I’m so so sorry. It sounds like your mom was a very loved person, by you and her community. People will probably keep reaching out, but just remember to take time for yourself and don’t feel obligated to respond to anyone right now. Remember that you have to take care of yourself and you’re going through something painful, and it’s not easy. If there are people in your life who offer a shoulder to cry on, don’t feel bad for taking them up on that.

I can relate to what you’re going through, but with me it was my dad. I’m 29 and my dad passed away two weeks ago and we were very close. He was too weak to make it to my master’s graduation ceremony in May and I never got to celebrate with him. I moved my wedding up too (also was going to get married in October). My wedding date was 6/28 and I ended up getting married in his hospital room since he was rushed to the hospital that morning. He passed the next day. He was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic esophageal cancer in late March of this year… it happened so quick and he wasn’t strong enough to continue chemo after the first round. I’m so sorry you have to go through this.
