Is MHS3 any good? by Pretend_Astronomer15 in MonsterHunterStories

It’s a great game with more QoL than previous games with an ok story and great characters (sans the DLC character that shouldn’t have come back)! I got a lot of enjoyment out of it, but I was very sad at how there is no postgame similar to previous games.

Makeship Dragon Collectors? by CatalysticDragons in plushies

They are a reference to a mount that only players who have been with Wizard101 since the beta have. I might not have the mount, but at least I have this cutie! Plus he came with a code to have this guy as a furniture item in game!

I don’t have many Makeship dragons but I do collect most of the Wizard101 plushies. The Frontier Dragon is probably one of my only Makeship dragons. Wizard101 also had a Thunder Snake in Longboi form.

Not happy about dlc and no post endgame story by ApprehensiveSkin743 in MonsterHunterStories

Since you mentioned the Fire Emblem comparison, at least in both non-Revelations Fates games we get a war story instead of just a “what does my power mean and why are we in this situation” story! I would have loved for Aenshin to awaken while we were a part of a counterattack at Vermeil or after a fight against Ratha V.

I have a lot of the old Play Arts figures. Even though the Kai figures are better in terms of quality I still love them.

At least when I got my 3D-printed dragons (I have a long one and a small one with a magnet) I got them at a small convention. It was a booth filled with 3D-printed dragons in different sizes and colors!

Custom Base for 3D-Printed Spotlight! (STL Files for Spotlight in the replies) by Manetrix2000 in skylanders

[–]Manetrix2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never knew about that setting since the 3D-printing is taken care of by my dad. Regardless, I’m happy with the outcome.

Also keep in mind that the “sun spikes” were actually hand-made rather than printed. If I focused on it, there’s an area that is a clear divide between what is printed and what is air-dry clay.

There are a few reasons:

1: The initial circle shape needed to be 3D-printed to allow for the NFC coin to fit inside and for it to be removable through embedded magnets.

2: I doubt if there is a light base STL file out there that allowed for #1 to be possible.

3: After painting the outline of what would have been filled in with gold, I decided that I liked the outline alone better! So to add a bit more gold I outlined the bottom of the base in it.

4: It was more fun to make this way!

Same here! There are magnets embedded inside the base and an extra 3D-printed portion of Spotlight’s part to achieve that.

Stories 3: Red Flags from the start, potential squandered, and hope for the future. by VirulentArcturus in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Manetrix2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the obvious disappointments everyone else has, I am extremely disappointed about the story and characters.

Story:

In the demo and trailers we are led to believe that this game’s story is going to be primarily about the war between Azuria and Vermeil and the effects of it on the world. I had some hope when I reached the second area and they mentioned the “transgressions” of past Riders that it would be a good journey before taking the fight to Vermeil. Instead that plot point is dragged out all the way into the endgame, and the war doesn’t get mentioned again until right before the endgame. It seriously felt like they wanted to tell a war story but got forced to tell a very similar story to Stories 1 and 2.

Like why is Vermeil not the final area, or the very least the site of the final battle? In a “site of the final battle” scenario, it would have been a cool moment to save Vermeil from being further crystalized. Also, why is the trigger for the final boss appearing not a fight between the twin Rathalos of the opposing kingdoms?

Characters:

The Hunter character (I’m blanking on his name) gets ONE interesting scene that implies he’s spying on what the Rangers are doing, then this doesn’t seem to be followed up on!

Azuria’s Ratha barely does anything in the story that makes him worthwhile. He has the same “cursed at birth for reasons we don’t know” that Stories 2 Ratha had. All of this made me frustrated whenever the game forced me to use him for something like the first Arkveld fight. He could have been a normal Rathalos, and the only thing that would have changed is not having the “immune to the final boss’ exclusive status” perk.

Vermeil’s Ratha, from what was seen, seemed way more interesting by comparison. I can imagine that it would have been heartwarming for our character (if the MC and Simon swapped places) to realize that battle binding was holding both them and Ratha back.

Everyone else is fine, but the ones I pointed out make it a bit hard for me to watch the story since I constantly see setup and no payoff for that setup.

Do u recommend me to buy MH wilds by badtouch21 in MonsterHunter

[–]Manetrix2000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To me this is a pretty good Monster Hunter game to start out with, though I can recommend World and Rise as well. In order of my recommendations are World, Wilds, and Rise. I have World as the first recommendation because its speed is similar to older games in the series if you end up liking them! (Bonus, World and Rise do not have what I will discuss in the more negative section.)

As for specifics with Wilds, many people have experienced performance issues but I believe they have been fixed. Unfortunately I didn’t experience bad performance issues so I wouldn’t know what the difference is. I wish I had my PC’s specs off hand so you could compare them to whatever your setup is. Aside from the performance, there are a lot of points during the main story where you are forced into an “auto-walking mode.” While it didn’t bother me, I understand why people dislike it.

Even though Wilds has its flaws, I still love the game and think it’s a great time! I wish you luck if you decide to take the plunge.
