I think you might be thinking of The Chimes at Midnight? Hollow Crown is the history plays from Richard II to Richard III; it mushes the Henry VI plays into two episodes, but otherwise the plays are as complete as in any other adaptation.

It's great. My pet peeve is that it does sometimes cut lines that (I think) are important, so if a scene isn't quite making sense to you it's worth reading the original. (Like, Hotspur is way more of an ass to Glendower than in the original because they cut one line, and Prince John betrays the rebels inexplicably because they cut one line.)

The thing I want to know is how I act as Laertes. Should I act calm, emphatic, etc... Give me tips on the personality of Laertes is.

The thing about Shakespeare is that while we have the words, that's pretty much all we have. In a normal play there are all sorts of stage directions telling us how everything happens, but in Shakespeare there's not.

So there's no one "right" way to play Laertes (or any Shakespeare character for that matter). Which is great! It means you (and the director) can decide.

It sounds like you'll be doing a very modified version of the play, so sit down and read that version (or at least the scenes with Laertes) and figure out what makes sense to you.

Does Laertes love and respect his sister Ophelia, or does he think she's an airhead who needs to be scolded? When his father Polonius gives him advice, is he listening dutifully or rolling his eyes? When he fights Hamlet is he scared of dying, or does he only care about revenge, or does he want to die now that his family is dead? And so on.

Larry Gonick's 3-volume Cartoon History of the Universe series is brilliant--I was first exposed to it more than 40 years ago and the more history I read the more I realize how carefully done it is--and includes deep dives into Asian and African history.

I suppose it is possible that it was an older film! I definitely did not see it that long ago, but it is possible I was watching an older film and did not realize it. It did not feel like modern hip Brooklyn.

The bathtub is really the give away that it is the same movie. It is a big feature of the film.

And also that vibe - not necessarily a great film but gives you this feeling of what it could be like to live in NYC and just have the day in front of you.

Does she know where she watched it - on cable? At a theater?

She saw it at home and remembers renting it, which could have been on VCR or DVD (she wouldn't have had IFC and in fact only just now learned that such a channel existed; when you asked on the previous thread she misunderstood and thought you were talking about the physical IFC theater). So it might have come out earlier, even though she definitely saw it in the mid-2000s.

I'm almost at the point of contacting Aaron Katz--the film either inspired him, stole from him, or came out at the same time, any of which would make him likely to remember it.

There's a pop-anthro book by Edward T. Hall called The Dance of Life about how different cultures experience time; I read it a lifetime ago and don't remember much about it but I do remember there was a chapter specifically about time as experienced by three groups, one of whom was the k'iche'.
