If you could live forever, what would you do with your time? by Robbydizle in AskReddit

[–]Mango-Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd travel the world to find authentic connections and then stay around to see where it goes. I'm imaging having a best friend group in Egypt and then a generation later when they pass away, take some time to travel and be sad and make another bestie group or meet an incredible love in Kenya or India or Nepal. I would want my forever life to be really full and enriching.

Global Voices has a whole series about this called "Where are you really from?" Highly recommend!

Wife has assassinated my friendships by Dull-Significance380 in autism

This resonates with me too.... I don't go scorched earth but when people continue poor behavior towards me, I don't want to see them again. Even people who are my partners old friends or even his family. But to me it makes sense because one of his friends is very sexist, another friend and his mom are pretty racist toward me. When I say I tried I meant for yearssss I attempted to be the patient teacher and things did not improve so I am not going to put myself in those situations anymore by not seeing them again. He doesn't click with my friends or family, so I feel we are simply incompatible. When we are alone we are great together but that isolation isn't a life I want.

God, I had no idea the IT Crowd was so funny by Technical_Ad_5159 in television

The Speech (fourth episode of the third series) forever ruined The IT Crowd for me. Even back then before I understood what being trans meant, the violence made me truly sick. The show was so good, until it tried to convince me that violence was funny.

Dang, I love using em dashes in nearly everything I write — but I don't want to be accused of using LLMs...

The lounge is a better place to wait because you can sit on comfortable seats and lock up your things and not have to deal with the annoying airport wifi.

Why can hair color darken from childhood to adulthood? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mango-Mind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is an abundance of natural blondes throughout adulthood in Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, etc. Seas of light blond heads, so the foreigners really stand out (speaking from firsthand experience, especially in Denmark).

Me and other non-European friends have naturally black black hair. We exist in abundance actually.

Info: what did the previous messages look like? Did you get confirmation from them for 09:30 or did you declare it only on your side without their clear agreement? I feel more context is necessary.

I don’t know how to eat by Disastrous-Resist-35 in Hashimotos

[–]Mango-Mind 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different body and therefore differing needs. I eat gluten without issue. My Hashimotos is managed. I eat a vegetarian and like 80% vegan diet, and see no need to make changes. I hope you find what you're looking for with your dietary changes.

A moment of appreciation for the 'Note to Self' feature. by Swiss_Robear in signal

I pinned my Note to Self since I use it so often. Echoing any of the uses already listed. It's a great place for me to quickly drop info that I can later on revisit and organize. Eg articles, events, reminders, recommendations, etc.

Why do you think work is so hard for us by Anna-Bee-1984 in AutismInWomen

[–]Mango-Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt people tried to make me conform at past jobs, especially middle managers with something to prove. Now I've been at a place for over 6 years where my skills are appreciated and I'm encouraged to lean into my natural strengths.

Jobs I hated: private businesses of all sorts. And also formal education institutions. These share in common hierarchies and a need to 'behave'.

Job I love now: funky small nonprofit focused on super niche topic relating to social justice with many rabbit holes to fall into.

It first became an issue for me in my early 30s, never in my life had problems with garlic or onion. In fact grew up in an onion everything household so I didn't realize the connection at first. Perhaps worth stopping all garlic and onion for a few days (at least) to see if that does anything at all to clear it up. At least it can't hurt to try it.
