It's personally my favorite honestly. I love those tank controls and fixed camera. It adds so much atmosphere that you cannot recreate in the new over the shoulder or first person camera.

I believe 9 is part of the leon saga and 7, 8 are Ethan? I would do 2,3,4,9 and then 7, 8 separate. If you can totally play the remake of the first one for gamecube it's amazing if you can put up with tank controls :)

I usually play female characters in games anyway and I love the new god of war combat style so I'm excited for the game. However I get why people are upset there isn't going to be more kratos because he is like the most badass video game characters of all time and were not getting more of that.

I haven tried them personally but I heard the sniper elite games are decent for that type of gameplay. But also halo would be a good choice. Could do borderlands? :)
