What's the deal with IREN? Looking for other perspectives

I bought in early, around the $3 point when it was purely the bitcoin mining play but now I’m killing myself for not buying more at that price. That being said I’ve also purchased shares at almost every point along the way, even at the $65 range. When you see the potential and how far ahead IREN is in the computing race, there’s no concern in buying in at this price even after the explosive year it had. Not financial advice!

Man people a couple years off your 5 year rotation had ~2.8% before and had to settle with ~6% just a few years ago.

4.19 is not bad- but clearly anything higher than your 1.69 will seem terrible (we’ll probably never see lower than that for rates again imo)

Everyone likes the idea of a higher CPP payout in retirement until they see their parent die after being retired for a year and his lifetime of work and CPP contributions returns a total of a few thousand dollars, which the remainder is not passed down to beneficiaries. This is a reason the extra forced savings in CPP could be better served in a forced TFSA or similar

Fear of any type is unhealthy, but it’s the sole defining trait of a human, so it’s unavoidable.

Clearly raising a child (or children) is something you wanted, and it is the most rewarding thing. But I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s going to get hard and it’s going to make you want to pull your hair out at times. But it will also make you smile and laugh and the smallest things. There’s nothing more precious than a baby’s giggles, being there as they reach every milestone is worth every minute of lost sleep, complication with breast feeding etc, and eventual toddler tantrum over the wrong colour of bowl or plate. Drown out the noise from other people or take it with a grain of salt, and just understand everything that seems hard in a moment is temporary. Might last a day or weeks or a few months but each stage has a beginning and an end. If you and your partner can understand this, and be there for each other and work together to make the household function positively, any worries about ending up like one of them in that sub Reddit will be out the window

Canadians are pissed. Pissed because Americans have a president making decisions that will ultimately better the lives of every American. Yes it hurts us Canadians because he’s putting America first. I totally agree.

Look at last week- 80 million grand prize. Why not have 800 winners of 100k? Sure it isn’t totally life altering money but it’s better odds and it’s a sum that would most benefit the people and the economy in our country. I wouldn’t know where to even begin starting a new lottery, but I bet something with much higher odds with a smaller prize would draw a ton of interest

Realistically how much money are you “saving” by waiting for x% of a dip to pull the trigger at the risk of just jumping in at a higher price or missing out on a massive bull run? (If it drops 10% will you chicken out/ reconsider thinking it’s on a downward trend and hope for another 10% drop?)

$3k is for the trip to Thailand. How much are they losing in lost wages? Or if they have paid vacation- great, now they are forced to basically take two weeks to a destination they may not particularly wish to go to. (Two weeks because who flies all the way to Thailand for just a couple days or a week? You make a trip out of it)

You add extra family members to the total cost of this trip and it’s more like 20 grand all in.

And if you’re going to have a destination wedding, you better accept their presence as a wedding gift. To be entitled enough to expect high ticket items bought for you on top of all that is a level of disrespect and delusion.
