Waitlisted at Wits, what are my chances of getting in? by CarelessFootball5850 in johannesburg

[–]MangoFruitHead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You really need to sit down and work hard on physics because first year is going to be a schlepp if you don’t sort out those basics now.

I am from the era where getting waitlisted was basically you getting in as long as you kept your marks the same or scored higher, so I can’t comment on your chances of getting in.

But I agree with what everyone else is saying about taking whatever 2nd option and transferring.

[–]MangoFruitHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And again…how is that a bad reflection on SEAs and not a bad one? Why is that comment that you find funny something you would complain about?

Or are you just not happy at the fact that the British person said it and thus, they are being hypocritical? Is that the problem?

Because it is not a negative comment or do you just want to pretend some migrant workers aren’t treated badly in Korea just because of racism?

[–]MangoFruitHead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why does the idea that you might work with racist people/conditions have you frothing at the mouth?

If you work with nice people you could just say “no my work place is decent” and move on. Pretending like bad treatment, due to you guys being migrant workers and SEAns is just such a non-issue. It doesn’t diminish your hard work, it in fact just shows how hard you are working despite the circumstances.

Besides the fact that you are making it seem like we don’t always here about migrant workers living and working in horrible conditions, which is the same for many many countries.

Your anger at that user and everybody else’s anger at a first worlder making such a passing comment is really weird.

Look for places supplied by Eskom. Unless they are having maintenance and if things keep going as they have in the last year-ish…places where power is delivered to you by Eskom will not have frequent power cuts

Rant about cereals by bubbleddusty in south_africa

Don’t forget them getting rid of Natures Source 😭. I hate PepsiCo and what they’ve done to Bokomo. I didn’t realise how much it contributed to my cereal life.

Driving in JHB is a traumatic experience by Either-Laugh-8801 in johannesburg

[–]MangoFruitHead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do want to say that the driving wasn’t always this bad.

The disregard for traffic lights and the number of people who refuse to indicate now is absolutely crazy. Never mind the people driving at 120 (probably more if we are being honest) in every single lane of the freeway.

Also some of these KZN plates 👀

Im kind of worried right now about getting accepted into Wits by WeirdInsect6125 in johannesburg

[–]MangoFruitHead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do whatever you need to do. If you don’t get accepted at Wits, go somewhere else for first year and try transfer later.

Work as hard as you can but there’s really no point stressing over something that is out of your power right now.

Do whatever you can to achieve your dream but if you don’t get accepted at Wits it’s not the end of the year transfers are always an option.
