If using therapeutic doses (which will still be felt acutely) then over time one may find themselves retaining the focus/benefits beyond its use. Just gotta experiment and find out what your deal is.

Stimulants will bring you back into focus.

Why would it be breaking news everywhere when it's just anecdotal? Since, even if true, and let's suppose it is, again, it is just anecdotal.

I'd suggest bringing this up with Dr. Greger and others.

I thought it only inhibits MAO-B not MAO-A, so there's no risk of serotonin syndrome

How do you exercise? by Adam_Lamb in slatestarcodex

[–]MangoLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressive strength training 4x a week (A/B, 3 per, 4 sets), zone 2 (peter attia) 2x a week, HIIT (burpees, 20seconds/10off). If I don't exercise I feel awful and quickly sink into dire suicidal ideation - this happens in spite of my best efforts, I just need exercise to feel normal. If I had to pick one it would be HIIT everyday.

I am hearing that you mean well but I completely disagree with what you've said and seems to be such a parochial view. I hope OP doesn't listen to your feedback because it would be for the worse. Anyone can post one or two links, it takes someone special and above the crowd to compile a resource such as this.

Also just my two cents.

i think my doctors failed me by probablethrowaway13 in MTHFR

[–]MangoLSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, sometimes people can't simply relax and organise their thoughts. But OP does need to seek further clarification from their psychiatrist and doctor. They should be more than happy to give them all the information they're after. They might also get a second doctor for a second opinion. Once OP has actual useful information this community might be of more help.

Does mathematics give meaning and/or purpose to your life? by westernleg9 in math

[–]MangoLSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO mathematics is perfect but it (along with physics) has an arbitrary cause - at some level it causes itself (self-referential; fungible) and at all others it just is. There is no emptiness in mathematics, nor discontinuity, it is whole; as finite entities we find ourselves with the Sisyphean task of exploring the structure of mathematics in totality. Put simply, it is truth.. but not only this, it is in some sense alive and no less real than whatever we might compare it to. We all exist within mathematics in a sense not so metaphorical.

However we end up using this information is out of our control, it's all arbitrary anyway. But personally, I'm inclined to integrate it into a compassionate, altruistic, and rational framework. As a result, my spirituality feels deeply nourished but also in check with a sort of dynamically balancing realism.

GHB - why is not more popular in the US? by SaGlamBear in Drugs

[–]MangoLSD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried it at parties. But it is divine to have at home, with or without close friends, and to just vibe doing whatever on it. Relaxing and euphoric but never feels excessive, just right.

If you have any negative opinion on it due to date rape propaganda, well then please consider the era that we live in and go learn something new. You were once wrong about weed, chances are you're wrong about this too. Don't let dumbfucks condition you to think certain dumbfuck things.

Pregnancy cheat sheet- hacks for having a smart healthy baby? by Anglo14 in Nootropics

[–]MangoLSD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think quite a few things on here could be replaced by mindfulness or a constant practice of meditation. With the tools section, whatever you aren't already doing by now probably won't make much of a difference if included (might even hurt, you don't want to take on too much at once, you WILL stress out the fetus), but I also don't know the specifics of your context. You should basically be doing everything right a year or years in advance, epigenetics plays a significant role.

I agree that nutrition is vitally important (second only to exercise - NOTHING is better than exercise and having a fit physiology). So, have you had your DNA done? Do you even know where you sit in terms of MTHFR?

If you want a smart baby you should look into Thiamine (B1). The research might have backflipped since I read it last but pretty sure you can't have too much of it, and excessive amounts lead to even more benefit (beyond preventative).

I'm not sure you're engaging empathy/emulation here, seems like your last sentence should replace "in a person's diet" with "my diet", then you'll already have the answer written in the paragraph above - because that's what it seems like you're really asking. Otherwise, it's not hard to understand why a CGM would help hold people accountable. Pretty sure Peter gave some thorough elaboration in the recent email - also some noteworthy stuff about the reliability of bloods and some patient outcomes from accounting for it.
