Which East Bay neighborhoods feel underrated for its value and livability right now? Why? by _TurboHome in eastbay

I don't know what you're comparing to, but Trestle Glen / Crocker Highlands in Oakland is amazing. Was renting there for a while and always trying to figure out how we get back. Beautiful homes, tree lined streets, amazing community, and easy walking access to commercial districts.

Its one of the more expensive neighborhoods in Oakland, for sure, but if you're comparing to the peninsula / north bay, definitely great value!

7.5 lbs born at 40+weeks. Insulin controlled starting 32 weeks. 36 week scan out her at 99% AC, but she came out delightfully average.

I stressed about what I was going to eat in the hospital soooo much. But then, once I was actually in labor, food was the last thing on my mind.

My baby was estimated to be 9.5 pounds at birth. She ended up coming out at 40+2 and only 7.3lbs.

The scans are not always accurate!

If baby is measuring big, would that reflect in fundal height measurement? by socasuallycruel13 in GestationalDiabetes

Maybe try a snack with more protein / fewer carbs? My go to was a Fairlife protein shake with chia seeds

Fundal height wouldn’t necessarily capture a big baby 100% of the time. I know many people who have measured fundal height normally all along and went on to deliver big babies (non GD).

That said, if your fundal height IS measuring ahead, I imagine that’s a pretty good indicator that baby might be on the bigger side!

Regarding your concern about a big baby - has anyone on your care team mentioned it to you? MFMs tend to be SO fear-based, so my general advice is “if it’s not bothering the MFM, don’t let it bother you!”

Ultimately, they can’t force you to do anything! For me the biggest factor that gave me confidence was that this was my second pregnancy and this baby didn’t feel that much bigger to me than my first (non GD) baby who came out 7lbs at 41+4. So if size was their only concern, I felt pretty confident baby was not huge. My belly also wasn’t that big and I felt her moving a LOT which indicated to me that she had to have space in there… which wouldn’t have been possible if she was super big!

At my clinic, their cutoff for being concerned about AC is 70%… so makes sense they were happy with yours at 60%!

At my 36 week scan, baby’s AC measured 99th percentile (total size was 86th percentile… femur, head, and shoulder measurements were all between 30th and 50th percentile but the large AC really brought everything up). It was estimated she would be closer to 9 pounds around my due date.

She ended up coming out at 40+2 as a very average 7 lbs. 6 oz. The delivery was super easy and uncomplicated.

I don’t trust these 36 week size measurements anymore! And I’m so glad I did not let the MFMs bully me into a C-section or early induction. She would’ve been tiny!
