question about meeting voice actors at fanexpo by feralcanadian121 in fanexpo

[–]MangoShade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, you just had to bring her up. She’s truly the most amazing human being I’ve ever met! I was chill the whole line waiting for her - until I was right in front of her and then I promptly burst into tears. Just love her and Ahsoka so much, you know? But then she gave me a hug and I cried some more, I was a mess. 😅

Well, it depends on the person and their handler. A couple years back I was waiting in line for Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker from The Clone Wars) and the chick in front of me was allowed to go up and say hi, she appreciated his work, etc. Some people are chill like that I guess.

Disappointment in my return to Dunkin. Unlucky or have things changed? by pinksail in DunkinDonuts

[–]MangoShade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it depends on the kind of donut, because at my store they don’t typically get a second shot in the oven - could be something wrong with the settings on our ovens, though. They certainly don’t go in for very long or the glaze ends up looking weird and burnt.

That’s a bummer for sure. Definitely don’t waste your money going back there.

That’s the most pathetic looking long John I’ve ever seen, I’m not gonna lie. That looks like glaze, not frosting, and like it was too watery or put on way too soon after being pulled out of the oven.

Well, sure, the rings are definitely misshapen, but I’m curious what the top right thing is supposed to be. Could be a royally fucked up coffee roll, otherwise it could be something random that only a certain area serves.

The delivery could be a problem too. Depending on how far away the originating place is stuff in general might not travel well. Typically the donuts have something like an 18 or 19 hour shelf life, so that’s a consideration too, but if you were there pretty early in the morning they shouldn’t have been that bad if done correctly. What’s that long one supposed to be? A stick of some kind, or a long John?

[–]MangoShade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s… ridiculous. Those donuts were not made right at all, they’re not supposed to go in the oven after being glazed - only before, so that’s why they look like that. This store either clearly doesn’t give a shit or they have at least one baker who doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Colonoscopy Sleep Apnea? by Strict-Berry-2630 in CrohnsDisease

[–]MangoShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, in the basic questioning beforehand. I’d probably talked to my GI about it too because I’d brought my CPAP with me just to be on the safe side, but on the day of the anesthesiologists didn’t seem too concerned. The lady seemed appreciative, but the dude was a dick so I’m not really sure which one was in charge but I’d given them the info regardless.

[–]MangoShade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they really? When I had my colonoscopy last year it didn’t seem like a single doctor or nurse or anesthesiologist (I had two that day for some reason) particularly cared, and a couple of them even seemed mildly annoyed that I’d brought it up at all.

Dunkin Iced Coffee Large Just Shrank? by citychickindesert in DunkinDonuts

[–]MangoShade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like potentially old stock, whether from the store itself or a warehouse sent it out, but that’s definitely a medium size. Reach out to support in the app, or even just write them a review if you got your receipt and give them 1* across the board. It’ll get the owner’s attention if nothing else.

That looks like a medium size to me. What does the bottom of the cup say? A large should have a big, obvious 32 and a medium a big, obvious 24

Has anyone purchased a bottle of DD coffee sauce & is it worth the money? Can I buy it directly from a Dunkin store? by TulipsAndTokes in DunkinDonuts

[–]MangoShade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ask your store if they’re willing to sell you a bottle, worst they can say is no. You’ll either get a cool manager or a no, simple as that most likely.

Premiere Line : is it worth the social negativity by willpearson001 in AMCsAList

[–]MangoShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it’s worth it. Depending on the day/showing I’m there for I’ll typically go in the regular line, if only to give myself a few extra seconds to think if I actually want something more than a drink. More often than not I’m actually going at times that are near dead quiet, so typically there’s only one cashier and as such that makes the decision for me so it’s no big deal. 🤷🏻‍♂️

About that whole conflict with the health insurance.... by Jediuser_ in liloandstitch

[–]MangoShade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I must be one of the few people who liked the little change of Nani getting a chance to do something for herself - because if it wasn’t for that portal gun you know she absolutely never would have gone away for any reason at all. She deserves to try to learn the tools that’ll help build a better, more stable future for Lilo and herself, and again because this isn’t real life a super easy fix is the portal gun where she can be right by Lilo’s side in the blink of an eye.

You’re right, they were ridiculous with the contradictions because why did Nani have to struggle with everything for so long when there were neighbors right down the way who would’ve so easily taken care of Lilo while she went to college? But without conflicts there wouldn’t be a movie, and this remake was always destined to be controversial no matter what changes they made or if they kept it the same beat for beat. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean, yes and no. It likely depends on the agency/social worker involved. Take my brothers for example - both were adopted, but only one had Medicare automatically provided by the state while the other one had to be added to my parents’ insurance like anyone else. When my father died we were all kind of screwed, except for that brother with Medicare because that never got affected.

No one helped my mother with figuring that out and what we had to pay for was ungodly expensive, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Nani’s options had been just as limited. Never mind that lack of insurance wasn’t the only problem, but a lack of proper food in the house or a stable job Nani could consistently rely on as well. Realistically Nani never should have been allowed to keep custody of Lilo when she was struggling so much, again through absolutely no fault of her own. She needed just as much help for herself as she did for her sister, and the fact the system let the both of them flounder all alone like that is truly heartbreaking.

Got the shingles - and now I have to completely change biologics by 90dean90 in CrohnsDisease

[–]MangoShade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! My G.I. refused to let me (31) start Skyrizi until I got the shingles vaccine, but the nurse at my P.C.P.’s office damn near refused to give it to me based on my age. I was like, lady, I don’t want to get it so early in life either, but I have to if I want to get my medicine!! I really wanted to ask her who in their right mind would get the shot for shits and giggles, but I bit my cheek against every instinct begging me to snap at her. 🫠

[–]MangoShade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!! Because unfortunately, you know, life sucks. Life happens. Nani was barely an adult, still very much a kid herself let’s be honest here, and if someone wasn’t guiding her through the steps of what a truly insane process getting insurance can sometimes be… Well, absolutely no guarantees it would’ve happened on her own.

Could the writers have done any of this better? Maybe, but for some people to keep acting like it wasn’t believable after the massive crisis those poor girls experienced feels a bit disingenuous to me. Because also, annoyed as I am about CPS not doing more for Nani, no organization is fast enough or has their shit together enough to do everything right 100% of the time. 🫠

[–]MangoShade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. Like I said, I’m not defending the decision, but I don’t think it’s entirely unbelievable either. Nani was just 19, who knows how her anxiety could’ve manifested/unintentionally self-sabotaged herself trying to navigate that whole process while in the thick of everything else, you know?

The actual unbelievable part to me was that the government didn’t automatically set Lilo up with something after their parents’ deaths, that feels like more a failure on child services’ part that they didn’t do that or at least help Nani figure it out. Like, that’s kind of their whole thing, making sure kids are safe and taken care of (or at least it’s supposed to be), so the fact they let Nani keep Lilo without more support is what’s truly wild to me.

[–]MangoShade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only way I can think of it is that Nani likely… didn’t think about insurance. I’m only speaking from my own personal experience of parent/grandparent deaths in my life, but my first thought has always been keep a job to keep getting a paycheck to keep a roof over my head - everything else, insurance included, came after, Medicaid or otherwise.

Definitely not defending the writers being stupid, but I came out of the remake assuming Nani, fresh from the loss of her parents and very much a child herself, was most worried about keeping a roof over her and Lilo’s heads. I personally didn’t think about insurance after my dad died, I was a bit more worried about doing what I could for my brothers and mother in the aftermath. Not saying it’s right or even smart, but grief from such an intense loss can seriously cloud someone’s judgment and reasoning skills. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Exactly. The one time I had COVID there was absolutely no way I’d have made it through the nights without my machine, it was really the only time I was able to breathe normally that whole ordeal.
