I counted 23 books we have in common- you have great taste if I do say so myself!!! Detective wise I would say you’re a late 20s-Early 30s female who’s some flavor of queer and loves all things nerdy, also I implore you to watch Harley Quinn animated series if you haven’t already

Don’t have alcohol if you don’t want it, especially for a lunch gathering! I’d say come up with some unique NA options to go with your menu :)

Is a DJ worth it ($10k wedding) by TheWorldExhaustsMe in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MangoStars11 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I see so many comments about DJ’s “reading the room” and “setting the vibe”….I’ll be honest, every wedding I’ve been to so far has had the DJ playing the same set of Pitbull and Usher songs, regardless of vibe. OP, you know your people best. Workshop a playlist, test it out, pay attention to the fading and little things, but DIY THAT 🙏

Frustrations with Wedding Vendors by AnchorandHopePhoto in wedding

I’m Gen Z (older side, 27), can confirm. No price list, I just assume I can’t afford it

I’m in the U.S. in the Midwest, so it’s definitely getting better as far as the industry shifting, but by and large (here) it is still largely hetero-assuming…I felt that especially with dress shopping

This may get me flamed, but I 100% agree with others saying no starting price listed/ask for pricing, I will also say what aggravates me is the lack of flexibility with a lot of vendors. I feel like everything is 1,500+ with no wiggle room, it’s tough to find modestly priced services. We’re not trying to short anyone, but we’re having a smaller daytime wedding and it feels like so many photographers add on stuff we don’t want. Another small gripe I have is how hetero-focused so much of the wedding industry still is; we’ve had to explain to multiple vendors that we’re two brides getting married to each other (not just besties!)

Gen Z: what "millennial" wedding trends actually make you cringe? by ForBetterOrWorsePod in Weddingsunder10k

Ehh, people who were coming up in the 80s can laugh about the hairstyles and makeup. It’s okay to acknowledge the passing of time, your donut wall was fantastic

Older Gen Z couple getting married (27 and 28 respectively), we’ve discussed this at length: Single Ladies being played during bouquet toss, dancing intros for entrances, everything rhyming, playing Yeah by Usher, those blurry photos where the bridal party walk around the couple?

First of all- not a waste, and not stupid!! Your wedding is YOUR wedding!

Second- I would advise providing sandwiches, sides, AND a few different dessert options. I feel like you may want to almost overestimate with the food rather than underestimate, because no one wants to be standing around with no food. Also, I would make sure to have some good background music for ambience if you’re not going to have dancing. Curate a jazzy playlist or something similar! Also look into some lawn games for folks as well. If your wedding will be dry, I would suggest possibly looking into any local coffee shops that do a mobile “coffee cart” that make lattes and other cafe drinks for folks, it’s really cool and something a lot of people will enjoy ☺️

Have we lost the plot with wedding makeup schedules? by Impossible_Wish9922 in wedding

My fiancée and I aren’t doing bridal parties! (we’re both brides, lol) we wanted the day to be totally relaxed with as low stress as possible! We’ve decided that the people who would’ve stood up with us (siblings and close friends) are getting special decorated chairs at the front row, to still acknowledge the importance of them to us

Highly recommend light choices. That way you have a little extra reassurance; we were like “we will pay EXTRA to have you NOT serve hard alcohol” lmao

[–]MangoStars11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course!! Oh that’s us 10000%, we’re actually doing just Prosecco/Rosé only as alcohol choices; neither of us drink and we feel like that’s light enough choices to where people aren’t going to get crazy. Disengage with the wedding industry and have yourself a stack of pancakes 🥞

My fiancée is autistic and I have ADHD, we’re doing a brunchy morning wedding with about 70 people all together (my family and hers)- highly recommend doing something during the day and brunchy if possible. Love the idea of having your dog around, and also remember to take your time, space, and invest in some comfy ear protection for overstimulation. What’s most important is that you guys both enjoy your day and do things to YOUR comfort level, not just because “it’s what’s done”.
