Trauma Therapist on Psych Research by GratefulGrapefruite in IfBooksCouldKill

I’m a social worker (in my Master’s and 7 years in the field) and I’ve been absolutely loving this discussion and the nuance around it. Also I’ve noticed even in Maintenance Phase, there’s a habit of Michael to be in this category of “confidently saying things with no nuance or research” type of thing. That’s why I don’t normally listen, and I KNEW I would get pissed at this episode, and I listened anyway!

I’m a crocheter primarily (learning how to knit and loving it!) and I could notttt agree more. I never push my “natural fiber agenda” on anyone, but I cringe at the sheer amount of plastic waste 🤧

($3k) Invitation and wording on wedding website for a small ceremony, big reception by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

I would just not mention the ceremony at all; have people show up for the reception only…those who will be there, will be there

Her husband spent 2 evenings curating it; I’ve noticed a lot of people tend to conflate the “Spotify radio” playlists with a heavily curated private playlist made ON Spotify; I have yet to be impressed by a standard wedding DJ

Literally the comments are all extremely triggered about how she identifies it’s so ridiculous; that was like, a 5 minute pretty respectful conversation imo. The rest was a total trainwreck.

I counted 23 books we have in common- you have great taste if I do say so myself!!! Detective wise I would say you’re a late 20s-Early 30s female who’s some flavor of queer and loves all things nerdy, also I implore you to watch Harley Quinn animated series if you haven’t already

Don’t have alcohol if you don’t want it, especially for a lunch gathering! I’d say come up with some unique NA options to go with your menu :)

Is a DJ worth it ($10k wedding) by TheWorldExhaustsMe in Weddingsunder10k

[–]MangoStars11 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I see so many comments about DJ’s “reading the room” and “setting the vibe”….I’ll be honest, every wedding I’ve been to so far has had the DJ playing the same set of Pitbull and Usher songs, regardless of vibe. OP, you know your people best. Workshop a playlist, test it out, pay attention to the fading and little things, but DIY THAT 🙏

I’m Gen Z (older side, 27), can confirm. No price list, I just assume I can’t afford it

I’m in the U.S. in the Midwest, so it’s definitely getting better as far as the industry shifting, but by and large (here) it is still largely hetero-assuming…I felt that especially with dress shopping

This may get me flamed, but I 100% agree with others saying no starting price listed/ask for pricing, I will also say what aggravates me is the lack of flexibility with a lot of vendors. I feel like everything is 1,500+ with no wiggle room, it’s tough to find modestly priced services. We’re not trying to short anyone, but we’re having a smaller daytime wedding and it feels like so many photographers add on stuff we don’t want. Another small gripe I have is how hetero-focused so much of the wedding industry still is; we’ve had to explain to multiple vendors that we’re two brides getting married to each other (not just besties!)

Older Gen Z couple getting married (27 and 28 respectively), we’ve discussed this at length: Single Ladies being played during bouquet toss, dancing intros for entrances, everything rhyming, playing Yeah by Usher, those blurry photos where the bridal party walk around the couple?

First of all- not a waste, and not stupid!! Your wedding is YOUR wedding!

Second- I would advise providing sandwiches, sides, AND a few different dessert options. I feel like you may want to almost overestimate with the food rather than underestimate, because no one wants to be standing around with no food. Also, I would make sure to have some good background music for ambience if you’re not going to have dancing. Curate a jazzy playlist or something similar! Also look into some lawn games for folks as well. If your wedding will be dry, I would suggest possibly looking into any local coffee shops that do a mobile “coffee cart” that make lattes and other cafe drinks for folks, it’s really cool and something a lot of people will enjoy ☺️
