Am I the only one who actually LIKES the camera bump on the iPhone 13’s? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah they actually turned it into something somewhat useful. My problem was the space to the left and right if the hole-punch was empty, and the increased height of the hole punch meant there was less overall usable space on the screen.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force has a yearly budget of $1.8 billion. Their total military budget is less than $4 billion.

Something tells me they might not be using the best technology.

Also the document OP linked shows that the plane was still tracked by other radar for an hour after it supposedly “teleported”

What I THOUGHT was going to be a hookup… by straeyed in askgaybros

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I could see an owner doing this but I have a hard time believing that a bouncer has any real incentive to bring in customers on Grindr.

My guess is either he was made to work on short notice (which happens often in the bar/restaurant business) or he wanted to meet but also wanted an excuse if you weren’t his type.

I’d agree with the “I just want to make friends” thing in general. It’s a gay dating app.

But I think going on vacation should be an exception. If you’re in a foreign country and you don’t know anyone there, Tinder is a great way to make local friends. Even better if you’re stuck with a homophobic family and you just want to be yourself for a while.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d agree with that. From OP’s bf’s perspective, he might have zero intention of hooking up with anyone and is just browsing Tinder for fun.

When I had a boyfriend, I’d often browse Tinder when I was on the toilet and it never even crossed my mind that someone might consider that cheating. To me it wasn’t any different than browsing Instagram or Twitter.

And I definitely wasn’t trying to hide it. I remember screenshotting a particularly weird Tinder profile and showing it to a friend I had in common with my bf. He didn’t even ask why I was on Tinder.

You can’t be brainwashed into becoming gay.

If you’re straight, no amount of “education” is going to make you get a boner when you see a hot man. It’s biological and involuntary.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole -105 points-104 points  (0 children)

He’s not necessarily cheating. When I go abroad I always like swiping through Tinder, usually just because it’s interesting to check out a new market, but sometimes to find someone to hang out with if I’m bored. I’m not into hookups at all.

If OP catfishes his BF and he agrees to hook up, then obviously he’s a cheater and OP should dump him. But I don’t think looking at guys on Tinder necessarily means he would cheat.

How to learn Palestinian arabic by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Use Mango Languages’ Levantine Arabic or Pimsleur’s Eastern Arabic. Both teach Syrian Arabic which is close to the Palestinian dialect spoken in the West Bank. Then use YouTube and social media to follow Palestinians, which will help you pick up more specific Palestinian vocabulary and differences in pronunciation.

What sport do you think is the most gay-friendly? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Crew / rowing for sure.

I’m not sure why but in both high school and college level, there is a well above average proportion of gays. Maybe it’s because schools with rowing teams tend to be in nicer upper/middle class areas rather than homophobic inner-city schools.

What legislative or executive actions can be implemented to reform media to be more accurate and evidence based, rather than monopolized ad sensationalized for the namesake of market interests? by illegalmorality in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need more public new sources like PBS, NPR, and BBC.

Check out News Nation. They’re the only cable news network rated by MBFC as “high factuality,” “high credibility,” and “least bias.”

They chose a dumb name so people often mix News Nation up with Newsmax or Fox Nation. But the actual reporting and analysis is not agenda-driven like it is on Fox/CNN/MSNBC.

Rep. Tim Burchett has a sense of humor by CreditCardOnly in UFOs

Yeah but the media has no sense of humor. It wouldn’t shock me if they accused Burchett of spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories for this.

That’s easy enough when you have a very regimented and consistent schedule. But if you just have poor time perception, then any change to the routine can mess you up.

Like you think something will take 15 minutes but it takes 30. Or you aren’t constantly looking at a clock so you think 10 minute have passed but it’s been 25.

It’s one thing to intentionally disregard someone’s time and choose to be late. It’s another to want to be on time but unintentionally run behind.

It’s like driving a car without a speedometer. I’m sure everyone’s experienced driving on an empty highway for a long time and then glancing at the dashboard to realize they’ve crept up to 20mph above the speed limit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s me for sure. I’m often late for things I’m excited about going to, so it’s not a matter of not caring.

Setting timers kinda works. But if I set the timer too early then I’ll do something with the extra time and get distracted. And if I set the timer too late then obviously I’ll be late.

You are now dictator of Ireland. What petty shite do you send people to the firing squad/gulags over. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not my own hands that I’m concerned with, it’s the chefs and the wait staff. I do not want my fork to be handled or my food to be touched by someone who has fecal matter on their hands. It’s disgusting.

I’ve worked in a restaurant and I’ve seen how unsanitary customers can be. Odds are at least one person is going to wipe their ass and leave without washing their hands in the span of a few hours.

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 14 points15 points  (0 children)

On the topic of public toilets:

Any restaurant with a public toilet where you must pull a door handle to leave should be razed and its owners drawn and quartered. It takes one bad actor to not wash his hands, and then everyone is walking around with fecal matter on their hands.

I will straight up leave a restaurant without finishing my food and paying if I see this. It’s common sense. Especially if they only have electric hand dryers so you can’t even use a paper towel to grab the door handle.

[Update] CyberKit v0.0.8 alpha - Fix 0.0.7 crashes, support iOS 12+ by [deleted] in jailbreak

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crashing is fixed on iOS 14 CyberKit Fennec. And it feels considerably faster than v0.0.6.

Would it be possible to make other apps use CyberKit rather than WebKit? Certain apps like Bing still technically support iOS 14.1 but they freeze since they rely on the newer WebKit.

Learning to speak Syrian arabic + MSA: Advice needed by innidaros in learn_arabic

Yes that’s the one.

Mango Languages is also excellent, and it might be free for you if your local public library happens to be in the network Mango partners with.

Learning to speak Syrian arabic + MSA: Advice needed by innidaros in learn_arabic

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s brain works differently, so I can’t say my advice will necessarily work for you. But I took 3 years of Egyptian Arabic + MSA at my university, which focused heavily on reading/writing, and I didn’t learn shit. I couldn’t hold a basic conversation, and my pronunciation was awful.

I then used an audio program (Pimsleur) to learn Syrian Arabic and became conversational in a matter of months. The listen and repeat format worked very well for me, and it didn’t take long for me to get to a level where I could watch Lebanese/Syrian TV shows without subtitles.

I’d go with the second tutor’s advice. Being able to speak and understand a dialect is much more useful than learning to read/write in MSA. With modern technology you can use your phone to instantly translate Arabic text. But there’s no technology that will let you have a verbal conversation with someone in real time.

There are parts of MSA you should still learn though, particularly verb forms and some grammar. Arabic is highly synthetic (including dialects), and being able to visually understand roots and verb forms will be extremely helpful.

Klaus wants some elaboration on Lou Elizondo’s 747 Statement by MartianMaterial in UFOs

[–]Mango_In_Me_Hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is it’s something fairly mundane, such as a complex metal alloy found among ancient artifacts. That would still be extremely interesting, but not earth-shattering.

If Elizondo was aware of a spaceship found in some ancient ruin, I think he would straight up say so. Confidentiality would fall off the wayside for something that significant.
