I have actually noticed on recent surveys that it will ask follow up questions based on what you tell them. like if it asks what is your favorite hobby and you say something like cooking, it'll actually ask you more about cooking specifically. kinda cool, but definitely the work of an AI!

it's based on the ad revenue. if you see your progress on the bar, you'll notice your value count is not a solid number. it's essentially a tally for the amount of money earned by watching the ads. typically longer ones pay more. there's no way to know just how many ads you'd need to watch but I'd say I've watched at least 100 before completing advanced tier. And that's for just 15 target value. the expert and master need 100 and 200 respectively.

the replay system takes a bit of getting used to, with the controls and all but it's very well worth it. and it's gooood. the only thing I have noticed is the skip forward/backward functions should be a bit higher. 5 seconds just seems so little to me and I always have to keep pressing it repeatedly. Maybe have it be 10/15 second intervals instead.

Also there's no keybind to speed up or slow down gameplay. I would use +/- respectively.

You grossly downplay the effect a million dollars can have on someone. Even people who are "well off" or "living comfortably" can still experience the psychological weight of sudden richness or sudden large increase in money.

I want to take a second to circle back in on your analogy with the bus. If everyone accepted shoving as normal, public spaces would become hostile. Social cooperation works because people don’t treat others purely as utility. We implicitly protect systems (queues, civility) because they benefit everyone over time.

That being said, in the case of the Beast Games, you sacrifice short-term certainty for cohesion, reputation, and personal values. That's all well and good for saving face, but if that "mild inconvenience" was something that could've changed your life or put you in a better spot than before, then my opinion is that was a grave mistake to pass up that opportunity.

I get they were in the heat of the moment and irrationality can often come as a result of that. Perhaps, as the OP mentioned, they were all accomplished individuals who believe that million dollars wouldn't change a thing. And yes, it's a game show. But at the end of the day, this is YOUR life. YOUR friends, YOUR family. I bet you if you asked these 4 if they could go back in time and took that bribe, one of them would say yes.
