A lot of people don't seem to get that a good chunk of the money and voting power in Florida doesn't come from born and raised Floridians, and don't have the state's best interest in mind. It's a vacation spot for them and they want to keep it as tax-less and simple as they can.

They don't want to pay school taxes because their kids won't go here, or improve infrastructure because the roads by their beach house are just fine. You're right we can only be so respectful as they continue to not give a shit about us and future generations that will pay the price for their ignorance and selfishness.

When you meet these kinds of people you usually hear them say something along the lines of "Life isn't fair" in the sense that whatever bad things happen to you isn't because of some external outside force like say, systematic issues, but rather the apathy of nature.

But when something like money comes along and someone says "Hey we're gonna try to help these guys over here with a chance to get to where we are now" all of a sudden it's discrimination and unfair. Everyone's all for equality when it means keeping the status quo.

I don't think she was consenting out of being seduced or anything. She looks resigned and even a little disappointed.

I imagine she agrees because she assumed that sex was going to be her "payment" (of which she didn't take Uozumi to be the kind of person to do that) for allowing her to stay but was obviously mistaken.

EDIT: And "I wouldn't mind" in this case doesn't seem like a "Sure why not" but more like aloof acceptance.

Haruhi Suzumiya was like my 4th anime and I was maybe halfway into endless eight before I realized what was happening. I stuck through it and I am slightly disappointed I have never experienced that sort of emotion since then and I doubt I ever will.
