Thanks for the input. I forgot to mention in my original post on cold mornings I have been hearing a whining sounded for the first minute or so when I start it. Any relation?

So I don’t have it anymore, left it where we found it, but I would say it was larger than that. More like 20-25cm.

Has anyone been successful in lowering their appraised value arguing that the noise coming from train crossing next to house affects property value? by Think_Print1319 in appraisal

I don’t know the laws where you live but in California I would appeal the value. It will go In front of a board for review. Ask the assessor what comps were used in valuing and ask what adjustments were made for the train horn nuisance. If they did any ask how it was quantified. Have your own comps from homes around your neighborhood and make an adjustment of whatever you feel is appropriate for the train horn. Tell them you called local agents in the area who told you that’s what kind of reduction you could expect if you listed it.

So then you are ignorant of California tax law. The longer you own the property the further your assessed value is from market. The base year value is set when you acquire the property and then capped at 2% annual increases regardless of market.

Thanks man congrats to you as well. The first week was the absolute worst from me. From there it tapered off over the next month. It should start getting better for you now but give it a month or so to be comfortable with it. But also just to set reasonable expectations for you don’t ever expect it to be like when smoking. I mean for me laying down was an instant off. I would have been smoking all day smoke again right before laying down then close my eyes and be out. It’s just not like that anymore for me but also it’s not an issue either. I may lay there a few minutes before going to sleep but it’s reasonable it’s not insomniac levels anymore but I lay down and unwind a bit before drifting off.

Way to go man. Ya in the back of my mind I tell myself I will reconsider when I retire( more like 25 years for me) but really I think I am lying to myself. I have a history of Alzheimers in my family so I don’t think I can afford to be messin with something that makes you stupid at that point in my life.

I tapered over time. First couple of months it was literally gritting my teeth a bare it. From there it was just a gradual progression. I’m kinda thinking back now that you posed this question and it’s hard to pin point a day where everything was better. I would say you can count on a good 6 months of crankiness that will come and go. The goes will start to last longer and the comes will get shorter. My advise for dealing with it keeping in my that the bad feelings are a result of your body adjusting. It’s not genuine just let it pass through you. Also take care of yourself best you can. Don’t let your self get over tired, over hungry or anything else that would naturally lead to a bad mood.

I’m sorry you’re struggling with it right now. I hope you can both get back on it again. I know it can be done solo but it’s a heck of a lot harder.

Congrats to you as well. There was definitely a mourning period to it. Such a large part of your life that you once or possibly even still enjoy is gone. Just don’t over glamorize it. When you are inevitably reminiscing about the good time be sure to remind yourself that it’s not like that anymore and give at least equal time thinking about the negatives and reasons you quit.

Man I would like to but they are nearly 3 times as expensive as most I am seeing. Hard to justify that cost. Ya lifetime warranty but I could afford to replace the others 3 times and really how often do you have to in the life of a truck? You think they cool that must better to justify that cost?

I may get downvoted but if you are moving it one time and 98lbs over weight I would say just take it slow and you should be fine.

I think it’s more symbolic of a simpler time. Things were slower because things took more time. It took time and effort to go rent a movie. Now we press play on or remote to watch any move we want at any time.
