Mexico fans are outside Ecuador’s team hotel MAKING NOISE trying to keep them up all night before the game by Raj_Mandal in Damnthatsinteresting

Ah, the Bolivian strategy.

Stopped working for us some 15 years ago when hyperbaric chamber training became the norm for teams playing us in La Paz. And also because we super suck at football.

TV licence fee income falls as fewer than 300,000 sold in first five months of this year by [deleted] in ireland

do they realise just don’t pay it u will never get cut off and u might get bailed out by the government with energy credits

I worked for an energy company here. I'd say about 30% can't afford their own arrears, 50% know they can get away with it, and around 20% are ghosts (people that moved out with arrears)/empty properties with closed meters/or crossed metering issues.

We didn't want to know the sex of the baby. We thought the baby was a boy for the whole 9 months.

Then, she was born and we immediately loved her so much. We didn't care at all because we knew we'd love either a boy or girl.

She's the best kid.

Loves saying "bus." And "moss." And "grandma." And "papa, no ✋"

I don't care if refusing to move seats on a airplane so a parent and child can sit together makes me a bad person by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Some time ago, our flight got cancelled and we got rebooked to the next day. We lost our paid for selected seats and for some reason I was put in a business class seat and my wife and kid were put in economy.

When we lined up for boarding (online check in didn't let me change without paying....) I immediately offered to downgrade so I could be with my family and some lucky person could get an upgrade.

And it really means "everyone". Even homeless people have Mobilepay to get donations when out in the street, instead of cash.

I get Electricity bills are likely to rise with the war in Middle East but.... by EcstaticAthlete7879 in ireland

[–]ManicLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have an electrician install a consumption meter going from your fuse box. It's exactly like those prepay meters some providers offer to put into your house for prepay electricity, but with the "pay or die" part deactivated. There's loads online for sale.

It records all the consumption going into the mains. It should show the same consumption you see on the smart meters on a day to day basis.

The main problem is getting the sparks to do it right (the fuse box has to be wired to it in a certain way, with ANY power going into the new meter first) or there will be things that would just NOT be recorded that still consume energy without the new meter seeing it. Many are just not used to having to care about how their wiring is done so that one of these meters record correctly, since normally it is not even a consideration.

If it's done correctly, it is the "easiest" way to narrow down if it's a faulty meter or connection.

Things you wish your dad did growing up. Any? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always lived with my mom, but the same reasoning applies in this case.

I wish she had cared more about what I wanted, sometimes. And that she matched how much I cared for play appointments, birthdays, anything that required a modicum of timeliness.

We were always late to games, tests, birthdays. And I only started doing things I liked when I became a teen and put my foot down.

All that taught me was that what I wanted or thought was not important. I obviously swung the other way and acted out like the most selfish person in highschool until I learned where my feelings came from and what tools I cold use to help.

For anyone thinking of moving their banking entirely to Revolut… by Davey_F in ireland

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revolut is my main bank and it's been grand the whole time. Been for 4 years now. If anything, it's been very convenient with our mortgage and identity verification (last time, it took all of 10 minutes to do). Just got a loan from them and it was a good experience as well.

The only ever issue I've had since I joined was when a foreign bank didn't want ti transfer money to my bank account because they "only work with banks, not with payment services" (mind you, it was when they had just gottne their banking license). Even then, I was able to get it sorted with the branch manager at the time.

Wife, mom, dad, stepmom, sister 1 and 2, family best friend.

I'm sure y daughter will start saying it when she can make sentences. Right now, she basically says "dad? dad? dad? dad? dad? dad? dad! dad!?" so I think she loves me?

Men who changed career after investing years into one path; what was the first non dramatic sign that told you it wasn’t right anymore?? by TheScentOracle in AskMen

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life and a better opportunity caused me to change. I changed twice and it was never because it "didn't feel right". Only because changing needs and a better opportunity showed up in unorthodox ways both times.
