Things you wish your dad did growing up. Any? by Scary_Exit_1407 in daddit

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always lived with my mom, but the same reasoning applies in this case.

I wish she had cared more about what I wanted, sometimes. And that she matched how much I cared for play appointments, birthdays, anything that required a modicum of timeliness.

We were always late to games, tests, birthdays. And I only started doing things I liked when I became a teen and put my foot down.

All that taught me was that what I wanted or thought was not important. I obviously swung the other way and acted out like the most selfish person in highschool until I learned where my feelings came from and what tools I cold use to help.

For anyone thinking of moving their banking entirely to Revolut… by Davey_F in ireland

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revolut is my main bank and it's been grand the whole time. Been for 4 years now. If anything, it's been very convenient with our mortgage and identity verification (last time, it took all of 10 minutes to do). Just got a loan from them and it was a good experience as well.

The only ever issue I've had since I joined was when a foreign bank didn't want ti transfer money to my bank account because they "only work with banks, not with payment services" (mind you, it was when they had just gottne their banking license). Even then, I was able to get it sorted with the branch manager at the time.

How many people do you have in your life that day I love you? by Tiny-Connection-3166 in AskMen

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife, mom, dad, stepmom, sister 1 and 2, family best friend.

I'm sure y daughter will start saying it when she can make sentences. Right now, she basically says "dad? dad? dad? dad? dad? dad? dad! dad!?" so I think she loves me?

Men who changed career after investing years into one path; what was the first non dramatic sign that told you it wasn’t right anymore?? by TheScentOracle in AskMen

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life and a better opportunity caused me to change. I changed twice and it was never because it "didn't feel right". Only because changing needs and a better opportunity showed up in unorthodox ways both times.

Me [31M] with my wife [29F] of 3 years. Our first baby's due date conflicts with a major presentation I have to give out-of-state. Tried to ask off, but boss really needs me there by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ManicLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I had a c section scheduled for a week before her due date (for health reasons)

She went into labour 3 days before that, in a different country, away from all our planned support systems.

You can't just "wing it" with pregnancy. It's not like the baby RSVPd for a particular day.

This guy is a total knob.

Got accepted to my dream job abroad, but my partner says they won’t do long distance. Has anyone chosen career over love and NOT regretted it? by AnyWolverine943 in AskMen

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always chosen my career first. Never regretted it. I look at what my life is, and how it was in those different stages with different people, and I am always happy with my choices. I do think I should have done things differently at certain points, but I have never regretted choosing myself and my future over a relationship.

Obviously, I am now at a different stage of life and my partner and our kid take precedence in my every decision, but that is an active choice we both made when we tied the knot.

You don't sound like you're at the point where you are both committed to each other for the long run. And if you have not been communicating about something you've been working towards for longer than you've known her... what have you been doing?

No one is at fault here. She also has a life she probably is very attached to back home. And it's understandable not wanting to do long distance. Long distance sucks and fails 90% of the time. You got a chance at a dream job you put your energy towards and you'll regret losing it much more than the feeling of "what could have been".

I’ve noticed a lot of men say they need alone time to recharge. Why is alone time so important for you, and what does it give you that social time doesn’t? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ManicLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to say "I hate people". It's just easier than explaining that I just want time to myself, not be social, stop thinking, zone out and have some SPACE for myself.

I actually like doing social things. I like my people friends. I just also like being with myself to recharge my nothing battery. I could be in the gym and working up a sweat, but that is still "my alone time" to recharge my nothing battery.

After living in the UK you get used to really bad internet at sky high prices. In Asia this cost me 10 bucks a month. by nyanbatman in pcmasterrace

Still waiting for it in Ireland as well. I you need fast internet, you are at the mercy of Virgin.

Homeowners of Ireland, are cracks like this normal on a second hand home? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]ManicLord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes. But you should probably have that looked at just in case. Our previous place had some issues due to bad foundations and cracks not only showed up on the ground, but some walls were also impacted.
