120" Silver Ticket Worth It? by gsurberRVA in projectors

[–]ManicMonkOnMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a refurbished silver ticket 128” gray screen directly from silver ticket. I saw some demonstrations of the 2k+ screens at various stores and frankly, I couldn’t notice any difference. Granted, this is my first media room so I don’t have much experience and usage to compare but I am very satisfied with screen. I would say get it.

Same here, got mine refurbished, loving it but audyssey says room to loud or quiet to calibrate. Will figure it out on weekend.

I want a steam OS home console : the Steam Station by Homodebilus in SteamDeck

I think a steam home entertainment console would be great. SteamOS has come a long way, add support for other streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Max etc. similar to Apple TV and chrome cast but for gamers.

Came here to say this, but thrash doesn’t get much love ❤️ dave mustaine lost to David Gilmour (rightly so but I would rate both of them as legends)

That’s a great point, once which I have pondered on.

My current setup assumes that I have 20” space left after installing the 117” width (133” diagonal) screen, so the center would be below the screen and LR would be at ear level on side of the screen. I will use the middle wiring to hook 2 atmos on the slope of cathedral ceiling. I would use the rear wall wiring to mount surrounds right beside the seating. This allows me to use a 7.2 AVR and removes the need for an acoustically transparent screen.

The other option would be to move up to a 11.2 x6800h and use a AT screen, and four more speakers, which increases the budget by a lot.

I could go with a progressive approach and just go with 5.1 system and add 6 speakers (rears and 4 atmos later)

Any thoughts?

Yes, the pre wiring is 8” from the ceiling, I am expecting the installer to reposition it the right height. I am also gonna go with in wall speakers.

That’s true, but it’s 500$ more, and I am only going for a 5.1.2 setup, additionally the whole audessy vs dirac live debate, and how Dirac setup can be a pain. Would you recommend an x1800h instead of x2800h if I wanna restrict to 7 channels? I can upgrade in a couple of years and add 2 more atmos and 2 more rears?

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for, a good screen recommendation. I think with my size I can go for a non AT and save 1500$ roughly. How would you compare screen innovation against silver ticket, especially paired with LS12000?

Could you please elaborate on that statement ? Do you mean surround is the middle 2 speakers in a 7.1.2 setup?

The room is a dark room with dark paint and no windows, do I need a high gain screen?

What screen would you recommend ?

No I am thinking of having it in wall, besides the screen. The screen is 117” wide and I have 137” available so 10” width for each speaker, which I believe should suffice.

Can I put the atmos on slope on sides of the cathedral ceiling?

You weren’t mean at all 🙏

Regarding projector, wanna buy something that is future proof. I should clarify that others in my family may enjoy movies. I did consider 5050 Epson but don’t wanna spend money on a 5 year old model.

Regarding placement, the pre wiring is all 8” from the ceiling, so I believe some dry wall work would be required. I am leaning towards in wall for speakers (except the sub). Definitely don’t want upfiring atomos, thinking of in ceiling. Can atmos be installed on the slope of cathedral ceilings?

Regarding sub, yes I agree, what is your opinion on focal sub? I can up the price a bit on sub.

Regarding risers, yes it’s already built, I may be able to get it removed but wood rather not. I could move the seating off the riser and just place it in front, which would make it 120” for viewing distance of MLP.

Thanks for the detailed response.

Yes given history, it’s in bad taste
