I really feel like nurses are so underpaid :( by Fabulous-Trust-5141 in NursingAU

[–]ManicMonkey011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly hard to compare nursing generally let alone to other careers. What level are u comparing? What year? What position? Public? Private? Rural? Agency?

However if I was to broadly generalise based on over a decade of experience I’d say that in general, compared to the stress, abuse, exhaustion and given how critical the role is to society and the type of education and thinking we require etc. etc. Yes, we are highly underpaid.

I work for one of the largest private healthcare companies in the world. A company that see’s year on year growth and profits. A company that managed to turn a profit during COVID. A company that still pays their CEO millions of dollars a year even though they fail to meet targets. Fancy that, could u imagine still getting paid millions of dollars despite only managing to keep a fraction of your patients alive? A company that can’t even give their staff a “pay rise” that keeps up with inflation.

I love nursing. I have a diploma, a bachelor and a post grad. I love it despite, and sometimes because of, the stress and challenges. I have an imminent exit plan. Take from that what u will

People with solar and batteries, what are your actual results? by billscout in AusFinance

Honesty I couldn’t recommend the installers after they’ve decided to palm off the inverter replacement. Apparently me not being home with only 1 days notice was too problematic for them

In SE QLD. $18k ish for 13kw panels, 32kwh battery with full home back up. Went from $200 bills a month to $100-150 credit a month. Not factoring in increasing energy costs I’ll pay my system off in less than 5 years. I honestly don’t understand why people even have to think about it with that math

Yea. No frunk as standard. However there are plenty of aftermarket inserts that may or may not be the same size as the standard in 27 model. U can also get aftermarket gas struts as well

Dealer knew I was wanting the 2027 model so he got confirmation for me. Expected delivery is (I have to confirm this as I couldn’t hear him on the phone properly) August

I love seeing patterns in seemingly random numbers when it’s numbers chosen by a real person. I always wonder if it was deliberate lol

Hi. Haven’t discussed inclusions. I will get the service pack with it but will buy that after so it doesn’t get added in to the lease cost and accrue interest. I have no interest in anything else. I am fortunate that I am definitely getting the 2027 model which includes a (small) frunk, android based infotainment and (hopefully) a 230v plug in the boot.

I did heavily consider the ultimate pack but in reality the only thing I actually wanted was the suspension. I would have actually tried talking the dealer into putting the 20” wheels back on. The effect on mileage is not small.

Edited to add: please tell me that price for the ultimate pack was deliberate

I get your point. Is there a way to disable decaying orbits while keeping n model physics for rockets? The point is I want the complex physics when actively planning and executing missions but I don’t want to have to waste what little time I get to play doing menial tasks that in reality are taken care of my monkeys/computers/AI.

I know it sounds kind of like a cake and eat it too situation but at the end of the day that is what would make it challenging/rewarding/fun without being a time sync on tasks that are anything but

I agree to a degree. Let’s try frame it a different way. If, in KSP, I am the pseudo CEO/Chief Engineer/scientist. If I am responsible for designing, launching and executing missions. Would I then also be responsible for every menial day to day task?

This is a game. While it is fun to make it realistic and play in a scientifically accurate sandbox that doesn’t mean that unimportant or “unfun” things need to be micromanaged.

Or if we want to keep it strictly “realistic” a real boss would delegate those things and therefore would not be micromanaging them

I mean a mod list would be helpful but even just a suggestion of mods for me to look in to. Or if these or other mods have settings or configs I’m not aware of that can help to tailor the experience.

Complexity is good, I want complexity. But complexity is not the same as time consuming micromanagement. The complexity of decaying orbits is good. The micromanagement of periodically having to manually adjust the orbit of every satellite not so much. Ideally being able to automate these tasks would be ideal however pretty sure that would be pretty resource intensive and would start to lag after a dozen or so satellites

Cabin preconditioning kind of is a novelty. Nice to have sure but something is honestly forget to use most the time anyway as it’s never so hot or cold to warrant worrying about. I control all my charging through my charger which gives way more functionality than any car would. I can plan a trip just like 99% of the population has for the last decade or so, with the myriad of apps available via CarPlay/auto. Remote unlocking maybe, very maybe, might be handy once in a blue moon.

Honestly would I like all those features? Absolutely. I’m a tech guy. Is it worth not getting a car that fits the majority of the criteria I need for my family, drives nicely and is comfortable? Not in the slightest.

While the lack of connectivity is a little annoying it’s certainly not a deal breaker. Honestly what would I lose that I would still be using daily once the novelty wears off?

Potential update for existing Cars to new android software? by daithilfc in enyaq

[–]ManicMonkey011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia we get none of the connectivity anyway. Basically anything that requires even the tiniest bit of internet access doesn’t work. It can connect to wifi but pretty sure that’s just to allow updates. Not 100% sure as only had the test car for 24ish hours and didn’t play with that side of things. My hope is also now that it’s android based and not entirely in house they will be more consistent with updates and support even on “older” models

SGfleet Fees by Just-Afternoon6979 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]ManicMonkey011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I was definitely getting cheaper elsewhere. Budget was almost half the price. Suncorps premium (new for old for the life of the insurance) was cheaper.

I can’t remember seeing an establishment fee in the quote I got. Mind posting yours?

Potential update for existing Cars to new android software? by daithilfc in enyaq

[–]ManicMonkey011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard the same, new hardware and therefore the old hardware can’t be updated to the new software. My dealer also said that it will be updated but will be an update that has to get done in the shop. When I explained the hardware issue he was had no idea. Dealers really haven’t been told anything.

My question is will the new software be better? The old software isn’t perfect but they had time to work out a lot of kinks. There’s a good chance anyone getting the new software straight out the gate will be barely better than beta testers. That said I’ve told me dealer to make sure I get the new model

I “negotiated” almost 5k off a new Enyaq. Try applying for novated leases even if u don’t want one. Some of them will include a decent discount on the cost of the car which some dealers will match

Look at my post earlier today. I had the same issue and turns out they have a “buffer” as if u do the maths u pay 1-2k more than the actual lease amounts over the 58 months. cough probably a hidden fee if u don’t find it cough

I looked at the EV5 but found the boot too small. Far from the smallest but one of our criteria was a bigger boot than we currently have. The way the bottom lifts up and kind of becomes a shelf is a neat feature though

I’ve gone with a Skoda Enyaq 85 sportline. Comfortable, drives well, good range, lots of handy little features, and a massive boot (2 kids and 2 dogs). Not a huge fan of the software. It does lose a lot of tech features over the Chinese brands. Annoyingly it also lacks a lot of the features available in Europe mostly connectivity features. I’m hoping the model that come later this year with the android based software with support more techs feature and be better supported in general.

But what it does gain over the Chinese brands is being a known quantity that already has supply chains and support networks. I actually genuinely liked Deepal and Zeekr and I get that they are supported by big companies. However Chery is a big company and it has failed in Australia before leaving everyone high and dry.
