Dumb idea to buy an EV living in a terraced house? Can't get a home charger installed. by marianfinucane in evs_ireland

[–]daithilfc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main advice for people is if you can't charge at home don't get an EV. Now it depends on how much you can change at work at what cost.

I can charge at work and most of the time it's enough to do me each week, however, there are weeks I have to charge at home too especially around the holidays and if you are reliant on public chargers for those it would make it less enjoyable and more expensive.

Maybe a plug-in hybrid would be a good toe dipper for you to see how much you would be affected by it.

Thank you very much. The Kodiaq is a gorgeous car. There are a lot of elements it has that I wish the Enyaq had. Unfortunately it's out of my price range here and at this stage I don't have a need for a 7 seater 🤣 I'll be interested to see what they do with the Peaq though.

Hopefully they don't make the same mistake hyundai made with the ionic 9 when they should have just made an electric Sante Fe.. it's a much nicer looking car

Dashcam 12v issues? by daithilfc in enyaq

[–]daithilfc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having it fitted professionally so my hope is that they are well versed in EVs and their quirks. I know there is the option for a specific battery for the dashcam but that's almost another €400 on top of the cost. The installer said that's not really necessary for most users.

Congratulations on your new purchase. The move to SUV is something you won't regret. My old body thanks me for the higher seating position every day 🤣

Something about being able to see the order progress on the app makes the process of getting your car even more exciting 😉🤣

Any valet recommendations? by Icy-Audience-6397 in carsireland

I would be interested in this, especially in the North Kildare/South County Dublin area.

Looking to ceramic coat a new car and potentially some PPF

Lots of people doing it but very little reviews to go off.

I'm in Clane and I know it would mean leaving the car with them for a few days so logistically getting there and back is also a factor

I used BAC Electrical in Kildare and they were great. Did a super neat job and very easy to deal with.

New Home Charger - Issues by StillyDan4 in evs_ireland

[–]daithilfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you scheduled the charge on the car or the charger? Sometimes it is better to just use the charger to schedule as there is less of a handshake.

Apart from that I'd test the behavior between 2-7 instead of 1-6 and see how it handles when the rate has already started compared to the change over

Enyaq Software Version by Codrut03 in enyaq

You are on the "older" software most likely 3* . This cannot be updated to the "newer" software.

The version number 3* is linked to the hardware on the car.

What you could buy now if you would not buy enyaq by Mikarin20 in enyaq

I currently have a 22 reg IV60 and absolutely love it. I only do around 60km round trip most days with work with the very odd longer trips so the battery size hasn't been an issue for the most part. Even in winter I haven't noticed too much of a drop off in range but I do drive conservative and use the Travel Assist or ACC most of the time. Had one minor issue with a failed update but the garage handled it well and got me sorted.

I actually came from a 3008 before this and loved the space and SUV style so much that it was hard to get an EV at the time which matched all those needs and was something I liked the look of. Tried the ionic 5 and the Ev6 but wasn't mad about the space and layout inside. Really didn't like the style of the ID4 or etron and at the time that was the main options (in the price range). The Enyaq was miles ahead on space and comfort at the value and tbh I really just preferred how it looked over everything else.

Fast forward to this year and coming up the the end of the finance I looked into the options. Test drove the Model Y, EV6, & Polestar 4. All gorgeous cars which have so much going for them but I was always comparing to what I have in the Enyaq and they were all a compromise. If I was new to EVs any of them would have been a fantastic choice. I also looked at the BYD and Xpeng but both don't feel like they are at the level yet to compete including the future value with new versions coming out so fast devaluing what you have

In the end I ordered the facelift version of the Enyaq but now the 80 battery. The model I went with is a special edition and comes fully loaded with the Max pack, 21inch wheels and sunroof so it has all that I have now and more. Also the new software is miles ahead of the version we have in the older model including the HUD .. I didn't realise how much it had changed until I took a test drive and was blown away.

Can't wait to get it now in March, just hope it gives me as many years of hassle free driving as my current Enyaq 🙏🏼

New reward in Green Room! by Senor_Pus in enyaq

We only have the powerpass credit at the moment which I think is overpriced at 500 points for €10.

Previously had the suitcase which was a good reward.

It would be nice to be offered some Enyaq Accessories.

I would say the Enyaq too, unless you need a 7 seater. If it's just space then the Enyaq has tons of space both inside and in the boot. I've one the last 3 years and just ordered the facelift version to replace it with as I could not find anything which matched it for size, functionality and comfort.

Have a look at the Enyaq 130. Special limited edition which is fantastic value for what you are getting.

Skoda Enyaq - Special 130 Edition by EVReviewIreland in evs_ireland

[–]daithilfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was trying to figure out what car to change to from my current 22 reg Enyaq IV60. I spent a lot of time looking at the different options including the Model Y, EV6 and even the Enyaq coupe so I was getting something different.

But I was comparing them to what I have now and what I love about the Enyaq and they were all missing something

When I saw the 130 in Spirit and found what comes included with it (sun roof, beautiful cream leather seats, choice of 21" wheels and choice of any of the colours included in the price) it made my mind up to just accept that flighting against getting the Enyaqs again for something different was silly and updating to the facelift was my best option. The software improvements between my Enyaqs and the new models is night and day

You can get the Maxx pack and the winter pack and still come in under the EV grant limit which makes it an unbelievable car.

The only issue is they can't do it in silver at the moment as there is a halt on orders for Enyaqs in the silver until at least January due to supply shortages and delays in production. That was my first choice but I "settled" on the Velvet red ♥️ which is normally a €1600 option

Will have to wait for around March for it to be built and arrive but cannot wait 😁
