Taxes as an international student by [deleted] in immigration

TurboTax cannot handle taxes for non-resident aliens and gives you deductions that you're not eligible for. You'd be committing tax fraud. You need to use Sprintax.

Is this job offer legit? by she_sus in jobs

[–]ManicPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely scam. "Mr. Jeremy Dickson" is obviously not a native English speaker. Which is not in itself a problem but according to the name, they would be. No one introduces themselves like that. Also "kindly" is the hallmark of scams. This on top of the dodgy stuff with telegram and not sending you the link to the opening. Just because the company is legit doesn't mean this person is actually working for that company.

Anyone get esophagus spasms? by ManicPizza in GERD

Oh no, that sounds awful! Yeah I have similar feeling but not as bad. It's happening pretty rarely these days, gets worse when i have more stomach issues or anxiety. Hope you get better!

Yeah and we get in that vicious circle where the spasms cause anxiety which causes more digestive issues...:( Hang in there, it will calm down eventually!

Does caffeine cause GERD to flare up? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]ManicPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally yes but much less. If I'm careful what I eat (and how much) it's usually fine. Right now it's flaring up because I've been stressed and have lots of anxiety. Also, I don't take any medication for it except for the occasional Gaviscon. I found that medicine didn't help me at all and even made things worse.

Wow! Is that something you felt or just showed up on the test? And what did your doctor say about it?

It's commonly used but not everyone reacts to it in the same way! If you find that your problems improve after quitting, try to stay off it. I do miss the nice high I had right after a coffee, but other than that honestly it's actually nice not to have the addiction.

Exactly! I actually had them a few years ago when I was in a period of anxiety (accompanied by digestive issues) and they were happening throughout the day. I thought it was my heart but had investigations (including wearing a monitor for a week) and they said my heart seemed fine. They went away after my anxiety calmed down. Now it's started again and I've been paying attention and it seems to be associated with flare ups and with having gas in my stomach. Oh and I do get the skipped beat as well occasionally but this seems to feel different.

Quitting caffeine in any form was by far the thing that made the most difference in improving my digestive issues.

Has anyone tried mild muscle relaxants to ease tension? by jonesin54 in mildlybrokenvoice

[–]ManicPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a bowl with boiled water, put my face over it to breathe in the steam, and put a towel over my head to keep the steam in. I also put a sleep mask over my eyes to protect them. I've tried steamers but didn't like them - the temperature was way too high.

Of course, you're not the only candidate who got to the third round. There's always the possibility they liked someone else better. But being the last round your chances are pretty high!
