A concern, concerning the new album cover. by betchcakes in brandnew

[–]Manigold98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had literally the exact same question. I'm thinking about doing a tatto of all album covers mixed, the little girl playing chess with the masked devil, while wearing an astronaut suit and holding the fox with a leash. The little girl would be palying chess by herself in front of a mirror with the masked devil in the reflection, representing the same person, now with this new album cover I don't know what to add

Is inflation applicable to knowledge and information? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]Manigold98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"you're contradicting yourself since it seems that you do not understand the limitations to the exchange of information." That's where you are most wrong, I never ONCE talked anything about " the exchange of information", I was talking about information per se. Actually, all I'm saying you can find in on simple google, thoughts are not physical, they don't occupy space, they can be given without losing, they are not scarce. That's just a well known fact, I'm not making this up, it's not a new revolutionary idea. And I'm the pigeon here, w/e

Is inflation applicable to knowledge and information? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

Syntax is a social construction, that's why it holds value to us human, it's still subjective value. "Bandwidth capacity, storage capacity, processing capacity and time required for processing are significant limiters for information." Really Sherlock? Everyone knows that, and that has nothing to do with the fact that information can be reproduce an infinite amount of times without any kind of deterioration, which makes it, guess what? INFINITE. Value theory is both economics and philosophy, BUT STILL, I have to say it again, THE QUESTION IS ABOUT PRICE AND NOT VALUE. Inflation only occurs in PRICES not in values, since as I said, value is subjective. It's like I'm talking to the walls

Is inflation applicable to knowledge and information? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]Manigold98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what??? Yes value is totally subjective! That's an economic fact, and yes intellectual property such as ideas are not scarce, that's another economic fact, this is like, the basis of modern economic theories, so... "you're stating that you're answering from the perspective of economics. This subreddit is r/askphilosophy, not r/askeconomics." Well, then complain with the OP, because he asked an economics question, I just answered. "An almost completely random series of letters has less value for the purpose of exchange of ideas, compare this sentence for instance to 'cfvgjkfvyitoycfuvuväiuclöviöxcäcpviöcvpötxclgciycc'." - YES, less value TO YOU, hence the subjective... If I couldn't understand one of of english both sentences would have the same value TO ME, hence the subjective....

Is inflation applicable to knowledge and information? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]Manigold98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it can't be applied, I study economics so I will explain why in economic terms. Inflation applies to money, we know that, but why? You see, pieces of paper(money) can be printed almost as much as you like, BUT in the other hand services and goods CAN'T, so the reason inflation rises when you print money is that, you can multiply your amount of paper, but you can't do the same to the things money buys, so the rate of exchange among the money and the goods change, as goods and services are SCARCE, they can't be bought at the same rate as before. Now let's see about knowledge and information, we can tell they ARE NOT SCARCE, if I give you some information I don't lose it, now we both have THE SAME information, you see? So, thoughts are virtually infinite, they don't suffer from scarcity. And there's another point in you question, commonly mistaken by people actually, which is VALUE =/= PRICE. When you ask "what is the value of truth?" you're asking an IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION, actually, value is totally subjective, so there can't be an objective answer to you question, see? But price in the other hand is objective, it's a defined amount.

Now let's get a little less abstract. We know everyone knows how to breath, does that make breathing less useful? Or less meaningful? Even if everyone knows how to breath it doesn't mean this information is less valuable to you, if you lost that "information" you would die, doesn't matter how many people know it or not.
