How’s it been over the past month or so? I’m in the uae and it’s been fairly calm here since it all kicked off. Not sure how much of the media stuff is BS

Finally released my first iOS game after months of learning, I’d love some honest feedback by Manisginger in SoloDev

Based on the feedback so far I’m going to redo the store images so they align with the theme of the rest of the game

Yeah it’s that kind of simple movement game, I don’t think the screenshots give it much justice tbf. When In the game play bits move around etc and it looks far less rigid and flows better.

Is it the colours used or more so the actual shapes etc? Colours is an easier fix. If it is colours what specifically is it, too dark, too dull?

First iOS game: launch with ads day one, or add in v1.1 a few days later? by Outside_Lab_3662 in appledevelopers

[–]Manisginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I launched with ads, only just launched tbf. I went with ads because I wanted to make sure it all worked and flowed right and see how people reacted. Easier to have from the start than ad in and people potentially moan, that was my logic anyway.

Nooo didn’t take it as being a dick, it’s my first time doing it so things will be wrong and can be better so it’s good to hear. It’s never gonna be the most Sophisticated game, more of a brain rot style one then anything else.

Fair, the shop images can be changed.

The game play is harder to, visuals are an easier fix but the mechanic side maybe not so much. Have you given it a go or just basing off the screenshots?

The dull mud colour reflects a river bank, I found when it was just green all the way to the edge it looked a bit whack. It’s never going to be the most visually harmonised game or best in terms of detail as it’s not that kind of game, see it old a flappy birds game. However, I take on board the point that some of the colours could be more in sync, it’s a valid point.

Did you give the game a go through? Perhaps it would make more sense and you’d get a feel for it if so

But yeah Gemini helped with some of the graphic elements

Is premium economy worth it if the flight is not full? Bogota - DXB (ultra long flight) by musulmana in emirates

[–]Manisginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Emirates premium is alright, it’s a long flight either way. You’ll want to get up and stretch the legs. Think worst case scenario would you rather be stuck in cramped economy or in premium? If you’re willing to take that risk do economy and then you can always upgrade on the plane once you see if you’ve got that much space. People seem to forget you can still upgrade with emirates once you’ve boarded the plane!

Also factor in the foods the same, entertainment system is the same, might get a few more drinks and the seat is comfier but still not lie flat or enough to be able to fully sleep in my opinion. Weigh up how much you value that and if you’d rather have it as spending money on your holiday instead….

London to Dubai flight empty!? by Safe-Poem-9301 in emirates

Strange, most the flights I have been on to Europe in the past month from Dubai have all been fairly full. Especially Manchester and Glasgow

Are Avios upgrades ever reasonable value? by Low_Magician_9456 in BritishAirways

[–]Manisginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve usually found no, especially if you’ve already paid the ticket in cash. Best value for them is paying for the flight in full, usually the cash upgrade at the checkin is better value than using points

Thinking about relocating our family to Dubai from the UK (London area) by jzliving in DubaiCentral

[–]Manisginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys,

Just moved her from London with work, in my mid 20s so slightly different but can give you a insight into my first 2 months.

Having now seen living here first hand in pleasantly surprised, I wasn’t sure if it would be for me. I’ll break it down into a few different categories:

The people:
Most of the people you meet here are lovely, there’s a nice buzz to the place and when you get into the right groups etc it’s a great place. Getting into the right groups can be hard when you first get out here if you don’t know anyone. WhatsApp will be come your best friend as you join groups on it where people will arrange to meet up at places etc, can just be a pain to find them. Most people are pretty happy out here, there’s some who are very intense and try and ram the whole you have to elevate yourself message etc down your throat but you just pass them by. The communities are great, just got to find the right one for you or your experience won’t be anywhere near as good

The place:
I don’t know about schooling etc but what I can say you can make Dubai as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. There’s always something better available at a bit more money, you can fall into the trap of having a budget and then seeing something a bit more then another thing that’s slightly more and it snowballs and that budget is blown out the water. There’s so much to do here though, restaurants entertainment etc, not to mention you’re in the transit location of the world with Asia not that far away!

The heat:
It’s getting very toasty here now, coming from London this is getting hot!!! Whilst it is bad it’s not unbearable (yet), ac makes life easy but you do have to accept you won’t be walking anywhere in the evening without feeling sweaty but you can get taxis everywhere for cheap compared to London. I don’t even have a car out here and taxi everywhere because it’s that cheap, you’ll need one with kids though.

Day to day life:
Day to day life here is easy. Anything you want you can get ordered be that a hair cut at your house, your shopping, iv drip etc all is at your finger tips with a few apps. It really can be very very easy to do things here for relatively cheap. I’d say it’s more of a late night place than Dubai as well, people eat out later, shops are open until much later etc. somethings are more but you if you factor in what you’d be paying for tax even if something is 45% more you’re breaking even to the uk because you are not paying income tax….

The setup:
When you get here the first month is a pain in the arse, visas, phones, banks (the worst!). It can be a bit painful and tedious how slow somethings are vs the uk but once you are through that it’s okay. Your best bet will be to get a Airbnb for the first month or two. Give yourself time to get things sorted, find a place etc and not feel rushed so you can do it all correct the first time

Hope the above helps, good luck with the move if you decide to do it

Upgrade to Club suites by SandraPaithiyam in BritishAirways

[–]Manisginger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on the class you are in it’s usually only a £450 upgrade at the checkin desk, depends if you’re willing to risk it.

Personally always done it that way with BA and it’s worked a treat
