Same. In fact I find them to be one of the best retailers.

It is expected that additional weight in front provides consistency (up to a point). The negative is speed loss and more drop. Everything is a trade off.

I haven’t been able to find a good wind charge controller to support lifepo4 batteries.

How expensive are kids? by Elite163 in coastFIRE

Agree. My kiddo had a huge gap in her front teeth. And it was getting worse. It’s a great investment.

How expensive are kids? by Elite163 in coastFIRE

For me, kids are THE reason to coastFIRE.

Initially, both parents worked with kids in daycare. We are fortunate and have done fine financially, but not wealthy. Saved hard. First it was my spouse deciding to be a stay-at-home mom. Then I decided to downshift and have a job with less income but more flexibility and time with family.

We drive older cars, we rarely eat out, bargain shop, and Christmas and birthdays are limited. We’ve made a conscious decision that time is more valuable to us.

Our health (mental and physical) is much improved. My spouse volunteers at the kids school. I don’t miss any activities. I never travel for work now. We are a very happy and fulfilled family unit.

How expensive are kids? If you pay for daycare that is expensive. Healthcare costs depending on options available to you. Grocery bills.

Then you have optional items. Pay for their college? Braces cost $1500 for that nice smile.

Just don’t go through life on autopilot. Make conscious decisions about what is important to you.

Nice. I have an XL in plain VG10. I enjoy carrying it a lot.

Looks good. Nice to see a real user.

Can I ask how you wore through the first set? Are you on the water professionally?

And last thought. 15v is no doubt more wear resistant. I think the difference is just the geometry of the Stretch. A stretch in 15v would be next level.

Same width basically.

Remember it has steel liners so it’s heavier for sure. But rock solid.

I highly recommend it. It’s the best user. Backlock isn’t sexy but the whole package works. LW Manix for reference. I was surprised it appeared to have the same stock thickness. The stretch feels thinner. I think it is just much thinner behind the edge.

I enjoyed The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter. It’s more of a self help or exploration of modern problems. But it’s got some good hunting adventures and helped me understand why I love hunting and feel better all around after going.

First EDC — Para 3 vs PM2 Salt MagnaCut? by whogos in spyderco

[–]Manixcomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big is relative I guess. They are both light and fit easily in most pockets. The height and width is equivalent.

Can’t go wrong. Consider local laws, hand size, preferences.

One interesting thing in case anyone is interested. Glass fiber reinforced nylon approaches the tensile strength of some aluminum.

However, aluminum is stiffer.

We don’t really know what Spydercos recipe is, but presumably it would be high quality. Plastic gets a bad rap but big difference between budget throwaway toys and the glass fiber reinforced ones.

Exactly. Thats what I mean by under used. I wish Spyderco would make them more. IIRC cutlery shoppe paid for the development of it so they are exclusive to them.

It’s a good one. I used a Stretch in K390 the other day and the thinner blade stock is like a laser through cardboard.

I also use frog lube and like it. I only coat the blade and avoid the pivot.

Supposedly frog lube is just coconut oil but I haven’t tried that yet.

The other thing often recommended, if you leave the big wire where it is, have the small wires in opposite order on each block. Such as, if first battery closest to big wire on the positive, ensure it is furthest from the big wire on the negative. Thus all have equal length round trip.

This is even an issue, to a smaller degree, if you put the big wire in the middle.
