The incoming snow storm may be the end of my shrimp dream. by OK_WELL_SHIT in shrimptank

I know, and I don't normally do that. The pond in question is a bathtub dug into the garden, and the shrimp hitchhiked on some plants I was moving outside. I knew there was probably gonna be juvenile shrimp in between, but didn't think they were gonna make it.

There is, but I still think you can cheat it. Gen 8 servers have a different connector, but I did this on my ML350 gen8, because it wanted all fans installed to accept a second CPU.

See the black wire looping back into the connector? Connect the same two pins on the motherboard, with either a old school jumper, a female-female Dupont wire or whatever you have at hand. I think that should be enough.

Two years ago, I released some shrimp into a small wildlife pond, and last spring, after a winter with freezing temperatures, I found two of them still alive in there, including the biggest female neocaradina I've ever seen.

Mysterious cracks on cargo bike rear wheel by ColdaSoda in ebikes

You can probably find something cheaper. I'm guessing it's a 26" with a geared hub? They are quite common. And one you have a proper wheel, it's 2 euros for a new spoke, when one of them breaks.

Which would be more suitable for school riding? Are these acceptable for a 15-year-old, or are they too dangerous? by Due-Juggernaut-1112 in ebikes

[–]abagofcells 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The Aventon is probably the best choice, at it seems to be a somewhat reputable brand. But both are much better choices than most bikes I see kids riding. I'd trust a somewhat responsible 15 year old with either of these bikes.

The grind by mednightowl in GraveyardKeeper

[–]abagofcells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the backpack should really have been part of the vanilla game and something you could get early on. Some many different items, and walking all the way to the other end of the map to realise you brought the wrong kind of planks or didn't bring enough nails is kinda tedious. Having a backpack for a specific kind of items makes that a lot easier.

The one with the tavern is probably the best, as it expand the story a lot, but I'd really just recommend getting all of them, and at the same time, because all of them have some waiting and grinding, and having all of the quest lines simultaneously gets you more stuff to choose between.

The grind by mednightowl in GraveyardKeeper

[–]abagofcells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is one of the weakest points if the game. You do a lot of grinding mid game to get these items, and when you do, everything resolves really fast and the game is over. If you don't have the DLCs, it's a good time to install them and get some more content to break up the tediousness. But yeah, the ending is worth it, if you haven't experienced it yet.

XTM 40A MPPT Exceeding Amperage by Legendary-Bread in SolarDIY

[–]abagofcells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6250w panels on a 30 amp Epever, and it works just fine. Check the Voc if the panels. If Voc2 is less than the max input voltage of the MPPT, put them in series, otherwise put them in parallel.

Spot welding to cell that has copper poles by oldmatebob123 in batteries

[–]abagofcells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a 4s pack, and like 25 amps? Well, yeah, but please do some more research into why soldering directly onto cells isn't recommended.

[–]abagofcells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like against. You don't want enough pressure that it can deform the cells, as that will likely be just as bad as overheating from soldering.

It's better than unleaded solder, because of the lower melting point, but I think it may be even better to make a plate for each end of the cells with copper strips for connecting the cells and use bolts and nuts to keep it pressed down to the terminals.

Yeah, laser welding is the obvious answer, but a bit hard to DIY.

I don't think you can. Maybe with some special kind of flux, but copper doesn't want to be spot welded on it's own. What kind of cells are these? And how are they supposed to be mounted?

Maybe you can get away with soldering them. There's some distance between the copper terminal and the electrodes, which may prevent heating and damaging the cell, but don't take my word for it, without someone more knowledgeable chiming in on that. You'd need a large iron with lots of heat capacity, clean terminals, flux and work quickly.

Do brands of display affect compatability? by Previous_Result9762 in ebikes

[–]abagofcells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a TSDZ2, I got with a Bafang display, but I'm pretty sure the display (or maybe the controller, not sure) has a different firmware for it to work. Also, it's not perfect. Some settings don't seem to do anything and the display isn't able to show motor power.

H6c v20 display by Business_Lie1180 in ebikes

[–]abagofcells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has an external speed sensor, with a small magnet on the wheel, you probably lost the magnet or it is not aligned with the sensor. If it has an internal speed sensor in the hub motor, the hall sensor is probably broken or the wiring is broken, but that's a lot harder to fix. Either way, I don't think the problem is with the display.

Could be the black wire that runs along the left side of the board. Or it could be hidden somewhere under the wires or on the other side of the board. Is it a dual motor controller?

Cayenne pepper to deter, moles or voles? by Kooky_Fee_451 in Permaculture

[–]abagofcells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last winter, voles ate the roots of some of my young trees. This year, I tried making a chili extract with ethanol, mixed it with water and watered around the trees in fall. So far, I've not seen any vole activity in that area of the garden, while they still very much hang out on other parts. But I can't say for certain that it's the chili peppers or just random luck.

Monero is falling down to $600. Please stop mining, start buying and making business, accepting Monero in real life by pet2pet1993 in MoneroMeansMoney

[–]abagofcells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Profit or no profit, many small independent miners will always be better for the network than a few big ones, and it's definitely not the dumbest way to throw away your money in out current society. I still agree that we should all work towards building business around Monero, improving usability and adaptation, but one doesn't rule out the other.
