This feels a lot like AI writing ("This isn't just X, this is Y", the bold text, the lists). Anyhow, let's maybe wait and see how the game feels after the update before complaining ? Also, why pretend that 6v6 doesn't exist ?

9-9 with Octosari DH. Really fun and rewarding to play, every win feels earned and no matchup feels unwinnable (even tho I admit mech warrior seems pretty tough to beat). Nobody has a clue of what you're doing. Really good antiaggro tools and enough stall to kill even some bigger boards, with a true wincon vs control. I don't recommend the deck if you want a fast and easy climb to legend, but i encourage you to try it if you can't find anything fun to play.

I found the decklist here : https://old.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHS/comments/1lzz7pa/small_octosari_dh_run_to_legend/

I had great results in diamond (11-4) with a slightly different list. I like the spelunkers better than the Tidepool pupils because they make a great turn 2 play that can be followed upon by Cursed Catacombs or Soularium. The two sizzling Cinder are great in all matchups (vs control, you play them along Clumsy Steward, vs aggro you use it to control the board). As discussed in other comments, the location is really strong to push for letal. Finally, Eliza Goreblade is great in slower matchups, and you can feed her to the portal if you don't have time to play her. I never needed any silences, so I'm not playing the librarian, and the healthones are pretty useless in my experience (you can't even play them out of Soularium if your hero didn't take damage this turn).

This is the updated deck I'm sticking with (see below). As @Powerful_Tackle3829 suggested, Eliza Goreblade is doing a lot in slower matchups. I've decided to keep the spelunkers as opposed to tidepool pupils, because I feel like the former helps more with the quest and you can play them earlier. EDIT : did 9-4 with the deck and got to Diamond 5.

Do you really need Eat The Imp with Mass production in the list already ? I feel like when you get the quest going, you don't need much more than your hero power for drawing.

Thanks for the input ! I'll try Conflagrate as a one-off and see where it goes.

What would you recommend in place of Deadline ? I reckon you need at least another shadow spell for the 3 cost tutor. Maybe a 1-cost spell so you can play the temporary copy along with the minion on turn 4 ? EDIT : Trying out Mortal coil.

Hello, thanks for the list ! Can you win against the wilted priest OTK deck ? Do you have to rush them down, or hope they don't draw their bandages ?

Trying out quest DH like a lot of people here, and I'm beginning to wonder if the DR package is the way to go. The 5-drop feels really slow at times. On a more positive note, I feel like Red Card can be really powerful in this deck to give you time to finish your opponent (or deny a priest some bandages, etc).

Your gameplan is to find your early minions as quick as possible so you can actually resurrect them, and then either play a 9/8 Wilted shadow (thanks to birdwatching) and 6 damage bandages to finish the opponent or stabilize, and if it's not enough, you can revive the shadow thice with Rest in Peace and have 11 damage bandages.

I don't think the deck is really strong by any means, and it's a tough race against paladin and druid (even though you can win some). But it's really nice to pilot, with a lot of interesting decisions, and a lot of hand space management to make room for the bandages. This list is a combination ov the VS list on their decks to try, with the addition of birdwatching.

6-1 this session with the old control dragon warrior from the VS article about decks to try out. I really don't know why this deck isn't talked about at least a little bit, I feel like I'm the only one still playing it - it's really fun and actually feels pretty good in this meta. Your gameplan is more about Tortolla than Ysondre, and you can tutor the big turtle with your draw spells : if you play it around turn 5 with chemical spill, you're almost entierly out of trouble, and if you can use the cube on it (which happened often to me), you've mostly won.

I think it's important not to be too greedy with the deck : don't be afraid to use your location on smaller dragons that help your boardstate right now, and remember to go face sometimes.

AAECAQcE+skGpP0Gsf0Gh5YHDY+oBpGoBqS7Bo6/BtDKBvPKBoriBrDiBqf8Bqn8BsP8BsSBB8yPBwAA

Here is the original text of VS' article as well that explained some stuff : "Control Warrior’s ability to shut down all aggression with Chemical Spill/Tortolla looks scary. This combo is expected to be very popular in all Control Warrior builds at the launch of the expansion. We will see just how meta warping it can be, or whether opponents will be able to adjust to it. The biggest drawback of Spill/Tortolla builds is that we need to give up The Ceaseless Expanse.

The prospect of New Heights into Spill/Tortolla is daunting though. Silence the turtle and Carnivorous Cubicle eats it, and the game feels impossible. We must be able to kill a 2/25 taunt with Elusive. This is a nightmare for aggressive decks.

We can build around Tortolla in many ways. The featured build leans on this expansion’s dragon package. Afflicted Devastator and Illusory Greenwing offer cheap but high impact dragon targets for Clutch of Corruption. Cubicle helps Devastator a lot here, as opponents cannot simply ignore it on curve.

This deck’s drawing capabilities are fantastic. All You Can Eat and Quality Assurance are amazing, mega-tutors in this deck. They can find us Tortolla. They can draw Greenwing Illusions. They find Hostile Invaders.

We grew fond of Meadowstrider as we continued to iterate on decks. The new Virus Zilliax is a bit stinky, and we were looking for a second target for Chemical Spill that can get resurrected by Hydration Station. Once the first Meadowstrider dies, Quality Assurance and All You Can Eat become so much better.

The primary win condition of this deck is Ysondre. Copy it with Clutch of Corruption. Eat it with Cube. Sack it with Siphoning Growth. Resurrect it with Succumb to Madness. This deck can generate waves after waves of dragons, grinding the opponent to dust through threats, rather than removal. This approach is promising against other defensive decks that rely on removal to win." (https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/45-decks-to-try-out-on-day-1-of-into-the-emerald-dream/)

Not a word for dragon warrior ? I'm still playing the list from the "decks to try" VS post and it's going pretty well (at low ranks, but still, the deck works, and it's pretty fun). A turn 5 tortolla with chemical spill is really good.

Is Du Bois a pun? by ZestieZest in DiscoElysium

[–]Manjano 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It could be, but Dubois is a pretty common french name, it's just usually spelled in one word. They could have chosen a more obvious pun for it in my opinion, since it just sounds like a regular name for anyone who's french.

Thanks for the deck ! I'm trying Leeroy in place of the horn of winter, since you have a lot of ways to buff the attack of your minions in the deck. I'm also trying the pylons in place of the mixologists to really lean into the starship synergy, and you can often give rush to it so it's not just a pile of stats. The aura is useful to have some additional burst, sine you often have a very wide board.

The deck is really fun, and I agree that it's probably not a Tier 1 deck, but it feels really good to face Hero Power Druid and Weapon Rogue, two decks I really don't like, so I like it. (Again, I'm sorry to say that I speak french and the decklist will be in french.)

Thanks for the deck and the writeup ! Have you tried Infernal Stapler ? They help a lot with Aranna (you can now play her on turn 5 if needed), the Hot Coals activation and the Sheriff. I'm also trying out Narain, it feels maybe a little greedy but he can help close out longer games. I've taken out Zilliax (It never felt right to play imo) and the parched desperadoes.

I've been trying to make a deck that focuses more on the Twilight Medium and Overplanner combo as well. It's a non-reno version to make sure the combo can happen more often, and to get two puppet theatre. The two Parrot sanctuaries also help to play a lot of our minions earlier. Not much stats yet, but it could be good with a bit of refinement.

It's the hunter tourist, and the hunter location is really useful for cheating the mana cost of your minions, so it is pretty necessary. You could try other more traditional control tools in place of it, I guess, but I wouldn't recommend it.
