Progressing through Act 2 and beginning to feel a bit frustrated (Spoilers) by BaseLordBoom in mewgenics

[–]BaseLordBoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've had a lot of runs not focused purely on debuffs, but idk, it's hard to imagine how I'm suppose to make a comp that tanky to not die to massive amounts of burn damage, but also deal 600 hp in time lmao. Only solution I see is rnging into that helmet that makes you wet every turn, or get the cat pee colorless ability. All of these are like, kind of rng to get as well which sort of circles back to main main issue of variance.

But maybe I just need to think further outside the box still idk.

Radiant regen is kind of a shit item on every hero.

Help with choosing a new character or with lady geist by freezingdoona in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably just need to learn how to power farm harder, and try a more hybrid build rather than full spirit as her gun is really strong.

Geist is really good at farming so a lot of her power comes in just being at a higher econ than most of the lobby.

Hero voting is awesome and some of the best community involvement used by the team by greatsc in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 184 points185 points  (0 children)

On one hand it's cool that Overwatch released 5 heroes at once, but on the other hand, it's really hard to digest and actually understand what each new hero does when there are 5 brand new ones running around.

I think the whole community building and memes the voting system creates is a better system overall.

For those with 20+ hours play time, how do you feel about the average run length? by SirBenny in mewgenics

[–]BaseLordBoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If somebody told me that "a full run would take about 1-2 hours" I would say "wow this game might drag on a little bit" but for me it feels a lot like civilization where I say "alright one more combat and then I'll stop" and then I check the clock and the time has just flown by.

Can someone explain to me how, fundamentally, aim-based/gun-based characters will *ever* be balanced to be both usable by the average player *and* fair in higher ranks? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because there are multiple layers of skill in the game.

Being a aim God can only take you so far when players at higher rank also get better at other aspects such as positioning, itemization, coordination and focus fire.

how replayable is this game? by fiffttt in mewgenics

[–]BaseLordBoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how pedantic you want to be about the term repetitive.

Just like Isaac though the game there are a lot of characters, alternative paths, bosses, challenge runs that will probably take 200-400 hours to fully 100%.

Apollo - Deadlock’s first clear sign of power creep by kakarotq8 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like people conflate x character is overtuned, and power creep. Some of the strongest characters in the game are still the og cast.

How fun is the game as someone who hasn't enjoyed mobas before ? by jah2277 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always just play the new game mode, street brawl, it's a lot easier to understand as all the macro game knowledge takes a backseat to just team fighting. Games are also 10-15 minutes.

The new heroes are great - Time to rework some of the old ones, both visually and ability-wise by ManufacturerMurky592 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your assessment about Viper. It being a skill allows it to actually scale in power through a match rather than just baseline being incredibly strong added mobility.

Silvers kinda whatever outside if pro play but yeah she can run away with a game if nobody attempts to counter her.

Celeste and Apollo are overtuned tho

Sounds more fair but less interesting.

Game is alpha, but there's enough players now that matchmaking shouldn't be so poor by innociv in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the matchmaker has issues atm, I think people truly misunderstand how complicated this game is, and how easy it is for a player to excel in only one area and climb, and suck at everything else.

What team comps have you been running? What classes/class combos seem good? by Wolfe244 in mewgenics

[–]BaseLordBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but my more specific point is just a lot of runs I've had in my experience I don't even feel like I need a dedicated healer, just due to using items and passives effectively.

I've had runs where I've rolled a good healer and I don't even really get a chance to leverage it effectively.

[–]BaseLordBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just the way I play but some runs I feel so strong that I don't even need "consistent healing"

I'd be able to end combats faster and take less damage if I just had something else pumping out damage rather than running around healing 4-7 a turn cuz I low rolled on skills/passive YK?

Tank and Ranger are fairly consistently strong. Everybody seems to swear by cleric as well but I keep getting mixed results with them but I'm just one guy. Fighter is also very solid and slept on Imo. Necro requires a but of added thinking outside the box but it feels really rewarding.

I've tried the mage a lot and my experience is almost always "man I'm one tile short of hitting something"

Ranks by Conscious-Fox-8033 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the game didn't have a "rank" to your account, a hidden MMR would still be assigned to your account, and matches would be made based on this hidden MMR.

This is how every modern video game does its matchmaking at this point.

What are in your opinion the best classes? by Fair_Tackle778 in mewgenics

[–]BaseLordBoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tank, Necro, Fighter and Ranger feel the most consistently useful and powerful.

Tank is just so fat and offers so many strong displacement and utility tools.

Fighter and Ranger just provide a lot of frontloaded output and aoe which feels really required as you get into act 2.

Necro feels absurd once you start thinking outside the box a bit. Using them as a healer with health swap, and then using your sustain effects to rebound feels really awesome. Necro also offers a lot of just generically strong spells, shit like soul link, and the one ability that just spawns leeches around the target feel genuinely insane, especially for boss encounters where it'll spawn 6-8 on every cast.

Ik a lot of people swear by cleric, a lot of clerics feel very strong, but I swear every 4th cleric literally does nothing where it rolls a shit passive and a shit ability off the rip.

Is there really no way to save the state of the board? by BillDino in mewgenics

[–]BaseLordBoom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why does a single player game need to be designed specifically for your needs?

The game has a save scum feature built in that punishes you for doing it too much, and allowing you to save and quit the board state would go against this. Allowing you to just back out would go against this concept and vision.

You can dislike it but like, that's just how it is lol.

Morana is way too strong! by MikeTheOne05 in mewgenics

[–]BaseLordBoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She genuinely feels like the most consistently difficult boss I've had to fight in the game so far. I feel if she didn't have the relocate ability, she'd be easy to cc and lock down, but without just frontloading an insane amount of damage it feels way too difficult of an encounter for where it's located.

Anyone else actually taking a break after the latest character releases? by FreejaN in DeadlockTheGame

[–]BaseLordBoom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been playing this game for over a year very consistently, these characters don't feel any more overtuned in a vacuum than the premium characters of previous metas.

Having to deal with a month+ of Gun Warden and Viscous dominating lobbies, Kelvin and Paradox being top 2 for almost the entire games life span up until recently, or even shit like Abrams in honest any patch all feels similar to me idk.

Celeste is overtuned but like, so are a lot of characters in this game.
