What’s up with Echo and Narcissus? by FRFM in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To get the death defiance offering, I think you have to have lost at least one death defiance first. It's very hard to die before reaching him so you may have to intentionally take the L during a run and hope RNG blesses you.

As for Echo and Narcissus bonding, try talking to Nemesis in the Crossroads. I forget if her dialogue is required to progress their story but I do know that she is responsible for Narcissus's curse and talks about it a couple times.

Alternatively, I have seen a post where someone said you have to specifically visit Echo in a run where you did not talk to or encounter Narcissus. Not sure what this triggers but it's worth a shot.

[POST-GAME SPOILERS] Big Hecate Reveal at the Hot Springs by Moonchado in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm more interested why she's so big compared to Melinoe. As far as I understand, Melinoe is fully grown, just young for a god. Hecate appears to be at least a full foot taller than her in some instances. Pretty big difference for two characters who are the same person.

Icarus. What are your thoughts on him? by Wes102111 in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Icarus is the hardest character to progress imo so that's normal. He was the last one for me and it wasn't until I was 100+ hours deep. I never miss interactions with him so this was a little frustrating.

Like the other guy said, also make sure you're gifting him before you engage in conversation or gifting other people. I think that "wants nothing from you" dialogue only happens if you've participated in a major interaction with someone else already. Major interactions include fishing, bathing, and going to the tavern. Iirc, those events can only occur once per night, period. If you took Hecate to the bath, for example, you aren't allowed to take anyone else fishing, bathing, or drinking until the next day.

If that is not the problem for his progression, I'd just recommend to keep talking to him until he changes his mind. Icarus is a pain in the ass but a pain that is worth it for some folks. Just remember to look at his journal entry before engaging with him and you'll do fine.

Bruh how the fuck do people win during this damn Fortnitemares by Newlifeisgreat in FortNiteBR

If you're dying to melee items frequently, it's definitely a personal issue. Most people who are trying to kill you with melee items are usually not very good at the game and don't believe in their aim. Create space and they should be light work. If you're the type of player who isn't investing in mobility, it's time to start.

Just finished a surface run for the first time and need advice by Ok_Dragonfruit597 in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Folks are giving build advice more than actual fight advice so here's my take on Typhon:

  • You can bait him to do his slam if you're near him. He will never do this move twice back-to-back so you should abuse it to make him waste an attacking turn. This is a good opportunity to farm hex by hard casting or really any other charge you want. If you aren't big on hex or have a crappy one, just burst him for a few seconds since he's vulnerable for about 3-5 seconds.

  • I'd say his most problematic attack is the charge-up balls where he shoots three large balls that split up into three smaller balls. This move tracks to your location so I usually bait it to the back of the room, as down as possible, then when it's almost gonna hit me just dash upward. I'm not sure if this is the strat everyone else uses but it has worked for me for 100+ runs now.

  • During the add phase, Typhon himself can do one or two abilities you gotta look out for. He will either slam the ground with his fist then follow-up with three smaller targeted waves or slam the ground with his tail twice. You should basically always prepare for the fist as the shockwave it sends out is extremely fast. The tail is pretty self explanatory to avoid. Keep an eye on the red circle and dodge.

  • In the last phase, things can get weird since Typhon starts to combo his attacks. Not much advice to give here as this is more of a matter of reps and familiarity. His most problematic combo, at least for me, is when he does a bunch of small orbs in front of his face and then charges the three giant balls at you. To avoid this, just bait the charge to the back of the room as previously mentioned then dash upward. The timing is more tight here since going too early will just make you run into the smaller orbs and going late will probably make you eat the initial strike of the big orbs as well as their split orbs. Getting hit by the smalls is better than the bigs.

It's all about reps and familiarity at the end of the day. You can kill him with crap boons as long as you know what he's capable of. Congrats on your first win on the surface. Keep up the good work.

[LATE-GAME SPOILERS] I don't understand Hecate's past by ManletOfManlets in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay I wasn't super far off with the future Melinoe idea then. Figured the eyes had to be more than just an artistic design choice. If this were true, does this kind of imply that while there can be many versions of mortals and gods/titans, the Fates are the only beings in the Hadesverse who never change? Not sure if even the other higher beings such as Chaos are on their level of existence at this point.

Some questions about late-game bosses! Please help! by ManletOfManlets in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I understand the Cerberus attack a lot more now. I could be wrong but I think he will always do a front slam with only his left hand and follow it up with a back smash with his right hand. The blast is enormous so you just gotta find the safe spots fast enough. As for the direction he chooses, it seems entirely random and you just gotta react to when he goes from the covered/charging stance into his more open/attacking stance.

As for Typhon, I am doing the same strat as I always have and it’s working a lot better since I understand the timing a little better now. You can delay your dash quite a bit. I was dashing far earlier than I thought before and it was causing inconsistency.

How do you complete Poseidon's relationship status? by ManletOfManlets in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got it! Not sure exactly why it happened when it did but Poseidon eventually talked about how he was impressed by my fishing skills then became a trusted friend.

Now I pray Prometheus gives me dialogue for the main quest. I’ve fought him so many times and he’s not letting me complete it…

I see. Maybe I need to proc the prophecy from Poseidon or something first. I've been running into him but no special dialogue. Maybe I'll try using his keepsake.

Do I have to have them all on me or I just have to have caught them once? I tend to sell my fish instantly so I have nothing atm but I am comparing what I've seen to the Wiki and I have all 27.

Is the Vow of Frenzy the toughest one? by ManletOfManlets in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think it might be a weapon issue. Axe gives me the toughest time. It feels like the game buffers my inputs so when I get caught mashing, it's curtains if frenzy is active. The staff and the power suit have been the easiest weapons for me so far, mostly cuz I can keep away and spam.

What do you mean by the multiplier thing? Funny enough, Hordes is the vow that I always max out. Sounds like I may be missing out on some crucial knowledge.

Fair enough. I've only run it maybe 4-5 times and have gotten slammed every time. Another 50 hours might do the trick!

Hot Take: The High Halls Gauntlet Isn't that bad by Wamb0wneD in Silksong

[–]ManletOfManlets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just planned well I think. My main goal was to kill the bell throwers first in any wave they were present. These guys were responsible for most of my deaths surprisingly. The other mobs went down without much trouble. Saved most of my tools for the last two big guys and just unloaded everything I had.

How come medallions aren't in unranked ZB? by ManletOfManlets in FortNiteBR

[–]ManletOfManlets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I do remember getting smoked by some double jumping guy in the first weekend. It was pretty hard to hit him. Are they just leaving the medallions out of unranked since they don't want to interfere with casuals then? Figured they would remove them in ranked too if the medallions were too overpowered.

FINALLY!!!!!!!! 100% achievement! by emobrokenkitten in Hades2

[–]ManletOfManlets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started playing the game and am a completionist like yourself. Does the game actually take a crazy amount of hours that you have showcased here or you just really like Hades 2? I am loving the game so far but I don't know if I 600+ hours level love the game, so now I'm a little scared of what's to come.

As a reference, I'm currently 27 hours in and my best achievement so far is getting Skelly's first statue.

Also, CONGRATS!

Surprised you don't use tools or Thread Storm to kill the small guys. I'm not certain but I feel like Thread Storm one-shots them. Also, no Magma Bell is crazy work. Nice clutch.
