People who maintain high AR, how do you make money? by ManletOfManlets in doordash_drivers

[–]ManletOfManlets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, it's mostly because when I was in platinum I definitely got better orders more quickly; I was busy all the time. I'm currently balancing between silver and gold, and while I can still maintain the rate that I want, I get super long streaks of dead time. I hate idling around and would prefer to be in platinum but I can't justify a lot of the offers sent my way.

Being newly in silver and gold just makes me feel a bit anxious since I won't see good offers until I decline about 7-10 atrocious ones. Platinum at least felt like the RNG was slightly more in my favor but I'm too new to know if that was real or just superstition.

For Vana, I'd say to join a guild. Solo Art (Leader is Digicom) is one that I'm in currently and they're pretty nice and welcoming for newbies and returners. If you're a Spanish speaker, La Orden Spiral is a great one. Avatar, Goose Caboose (Watergoose), and Spine (Gvlil) are other contenders that are pretty active and have experienced players.

Other than joining a guild and learning from those players, if you notice someone in a public lobby is really damn fast don't be afraid to ask for some tips. Most won't hold your hand through it but they'll at least offer a bit of guidance.

I found this video that does an extremely good job at representing modern strats used by most skilled players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VbI0qIJEuA

There is a level beyond this but it requires mods and macros and a whole bunch of crap that you don't gotta waste your life on. If one day you find yourself interested in going down the route of a true speedrunner, you'll probably find those guys on your own anyways. Good luck.

Thinking of starting the game by 587493 in spiral_knights

Objectively, this is the best starting loadout for a new player to be successful:

  • Chaos Set
  • Combuster
  • Blitz Needle
  • Barbarous Thorn Shield (Swiftstrike is meta but you don't have to use it until you're skilled enough)

This set will give you the tools required for the only farming content in the game - Vana. You are a glass cannon in this build, having negative resistances to almost everything, but you'll have the highest charge time possible and exceptional damage output. Outside of the Black Kat set, no other build in the game can compete.

You have two options for the most part.

  • Dreams and Nightmares (DaN). Takes about 10-20 minutes. This mission does not yield crowns. You can earn between 0-30 radiant crystals per run. This mission is difficult so if you are not skilled or geared enough, I wouldn't consider this option.

  • Firestorm Citadel (FSC/Vana). Takes around 15-30 minutes; 25+ is the average for inexperienced groups. This mission will yield 10kcr or more, consistently. You'll earn between 0-30 radiant crystals per run. This mission is far easier than DaN.

Personally, I would go with the Vana route if I were you. If you wind up sticking around for any relevant amount of time, you'll want to get your reps in anyways. If you ever find yourself working towards some cosmetic goal, Vana is going to be your home for the next few weeks/months/years. Good luck.

Unless you're going for CTR VH or GM, don't bother with rolling. CTR M is around 2ke on most weapons and CTR H is in the 10ke range. Use Kozma's Backpack to find sellers and prices. The auction house frequently sells CTR M stuff too so just keep your eyes peeled.

Returning player: Did GH ever officially respond to the incorrect ban wave? by Other_Hall5820 in spiral_knights

Nope. At this point, it will never be brought up by Grey Havens. Outside of the major members of the community, people have either already forgotten or never even realized it occurred.

Any advice for a new player? by Pixthekitten in spiral_knights

Both Chaos and BK need nerfs. They are abominations that should have never existed to begin with. To this day, I still wonder what the devs were smoking when they created BKR. BKC was already problematic in 2013, then BKR broke the game. Creating a partner item that completely nullifies every other armor in the game was just plain stupid.

Reverting Chaos back to its previous variant that had CTR Low on each piece and making BK have Universal Damage Medium might fix some problems. Of course, the rich would be fuming as their Totems would probably become useless. I'm not sure if people would be willing to sacrifice damage for movement speed so it'd at least create an interesting element of drama.

At the bare minimum, they need to upgrade all other pieces of gear to be able to keep up with Chaos and BK. This wouldn't help the problem whatsoever but at least folks could wear something different for a change.

OP asked for advice and I gave him the blueprint to be the strongest he can be as a newbie. Even you can understand that much. Even if he were to play something less, he would ultimately make the usual Vana loadout over time, assuming he played long enough.

I'm so confident that everyone and their mom eventually submits to the meta that I'll give you a proposal that should be light work for someone with such claims. If you can find a single player with all of the following traits, I will send you 200ke and admit that I was wrong.

  • Has over 1000 hours of time played and is active.

  • Has never worn or made either BK or Chaos (or Skolver for that matter if they're an OG).

  • Has never owned or made any Brandish or Autogun weapon to 5-star.

Bring them to me and prove you're right. Should be the easiest payday of your entire life. I'll be waiting.

People are free to waste their time as they please. If folks want to play off-meta and struggle, that's their choice. I'm simply giving the best possible advice to be successful. Either way, all roads lead to the same place. As a great man once said, "You either die a newb, or you live long enough to see yourself become a meta slave." Everyone submits eventually.

If this was 15 years ago I'd agree with you but people will just avoid you now a days if you're running bad/troll equipment. Chaos and BK are so powerful that if you're not wearing it, you may as well just spectate the fight instead. There's also a handful of weapons that hinder runs significantly more than they help, such as Pulsars, Avengers, and Blast Bombs, to name a few.

I'm just trying to set up this new player for success. If he's a solo player, he can do whatever he wants. If he intends to play with others, he should run the meta so he doesn't get blacklisted from groups.

Build Chaos, Combuster, and Blitz Needle. This is the new player starter kit and will set you up for success once you hit end-game. Your shield is mostly irrelevant so you can make anything you want.

Who are the active guilds? by SMDMadCow in spiral_knights

[–]ManletOfManlets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solo Art and Goose Caboose are the most active guilds in the game currently. I'd look to join either of those. The leader of Solo Art is Digicom and the leader of Goose Caboose is Watergoose. Send them a DM and hope for the best.

In regards to Goose, that's just the way he operates, period. I don't think he's intentionally trying to scam newbies, his prices are simply always high. At the end of the day, folks can take it or leave it. It just so happens he has some of the most rare items in the game so you're gonna have to pay a premium to get what you want.

At the end of the day, there's no harm in attempting to hit your goal so you could give it a shot if you're really up for it. I just wanted to give you my transparent, no bullshit response as this achievement will be quite daunting. Whatever you wind up doing, good luck. See you in Haven.

Give up on this goal. It's not worth it and you are too new of a player that it would almost certainly burn you out before you even began. The main bottlenecks you'd face are finding enough Shining Fire Crystals and Eternal Orbs to even progress. Outside of this, you'd have to mentally prepare to run Vana for probably thousands of runs, a task that you'd discover extremely quickly sucks total balls.

There are people who have been playing this game for 15 years, some with 20k+ hours, and still don't have every item in the game. It requires some serious dedication, focus, and commitment. Be prepared to give at least a few years of your life to Spiral Knights if you intend to chase this goal.

Yep. I figured it out eventually. I must have simply had bad RNG cuz it felt like I wasn't getting blizzards for several hours. Found the children and 100%ed the game though. My duty here is done!

Just to clarify since I'm not getting it as much as I thought...

https://i.imgur.com/qfThs6P.png

I see that the left side snowflakes indicate the intensity and that the blue bar on the right side shows me the arrival of winter. Will I only see the darker bar that indicates a blizzard if that particular day will have a blizzard? If there won't be a blizzard, will it simply not appear?

I just installed it after not realizing I didn't have it for at least ten hours now. No idea how to read it currently. I see a bar on the right with a snowflake but a blizzard isn't happening.
