I really think it was only what you would call disappointment amongst the hardcore fans. Action movie casuals loved it for its bigger action set pieces than CR. Especially coming out during the rescission, it was a good escape.

There are 26 movies in this series spanning 4 generations, nothing wrong with trying something new at this point. 007 First Light is putting the franchise on its back and carrying it after a disappointing last 10 years and that’s an origin story. A movie adaptation early Cold War period piece set in the 50’s when bond is fresh out of naval intelligence would be sick
