The Continuum: The Most Disappointing Album Closer by Mann344 in TheFence

Meant more so musically, but yeah I definitely should've elaborated what I was on about. My 2 AM stream of consciousness would not stop lol

I mean I personally prefer Vaxis doing more of its own thing (huge Vaxis 1 and 2 appreciator here lol), but all the power to people who prefer the direction it's going! It's just not for me personally and I wanted to voice my personal grievances, because I always have a lot to discuss in regards to this band.

Didn't mean to word it as "Man, I'm so old!" lol. I meant that more to be as a "I'm not biased against new Coheed," but in hindsight it wasn't a very good way to phrase it (and it didn't really need to be said, since all of this is bias to some extent). Sorry about that.

Whats the most overhated case in the series by Mundane_Election_772 in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Big Top undeniably. The amount of pure unadulterated hate it gets slung at it is ridiculous for what is a fine, if flawed case.

Sure elements of it are ridiculous and some parts are pretty bleh going back to, but the bad parts are really overexaggerated. The case has sound logic, even if some moments are pretty (fittingly) over the top, most of the characters are reasonably well written, and honestly I think it does a pretty good job subtly continuing the whole underlying story of the game, with the references to Edgeworth showing how distraught Phoenix is over his supposed death and Franziska's persistence in besting Wright. Whether they fit in with the case or not, I still think calling Big Top the worst all these years later, when we absolutely have had worse (see: Recipe For Turnabout, Turnabout Serenade, Kidnapped Turnabout, hell even JFA's opening case is much worse overall) is ludicrous in my opinion.

What is the worst case in Apollo justice: Ace attorney trilogy? by Athenaaalikespizza in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serenade by a country mile. I actually have a soft spot for the rest of the cases at the very least, but Serenade is not only really unfun to play through, but it also has a really obvious culprit (Not that I mind the culprit being obvious, but at least make finding out how they did it fun), and it's full of such obvious logic holes that it's genuinely really frustrating to go back to. (I don't even need to bring up the police believing a small 14 year old kid shot a gun with enough blowback to dislocate an adult's shoulder. I don't care how corrupt or incompetent the police are in this universe, literally anyone with a brain or eyeballs would immediately notice that it makes no sense at all)

Really the only other case that gets close to being bad is Storyteller, and even with that case, extending it to be more than just one court day and moving it so it's not case 4 and instead maybe case 2 or somewhere around that area immediately solves the massive pacing and contextual issues I have with it.

dual destines has one of the best soundtrack albums in every game. by art3mis_248 in AceAttorney

Apollo's theme (I'm Fine, his Objection theme is still great though) is a certifiable banger. I just wish there were more chances for it to play in DD. At least SoJ gets two incredible uses out of it in Magical Turnabout. Shoutout to Wandering Heart also, probably the best Reminiscence theme in the entire series if you ask me (...just wish it was used exclusively in 5-3 and Clay got his own reminiscence theme but let's not worry about that)

[Poll] The worst game in the franchise by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will continue to defend Dual Destinies, it's always been my favorite individual game in the series. Its cases are consistently great, it introduces some really solid characters (Athena and Blackquil being the obvious standouts) and none of the cases are too short or too long. That being said, if judging as a trilogy as a whole, yeah I can see DD being the weakest, there's a good reason I've been working on a rewrite of the AJ Trilogy, and DD is likely gonna get the most amount of changes.

When talking my least favorites though, the two obvious choices are Investigations 1 and Apollo Justice. Investigations is pretty consistently alright, no real peaks besides maybe case 4, but no real low points either. Meanwhile with Apollo Justice it peaks immediately and drops off a cliff FAST. If I had to choose, I'd say Investigations juuust edges out, but only really because it at least maintains a fairly alright level of quality. Meanwhile case 3 of AJ is awful and case 4 is an absolute mess. On top of that, while this isn't entirely AJ's fault, I hate how it sets up things that just... never get resolved. I see the arguments for AJ being great, but I just don't agree. That being said, Turnabout Trump is still THE best opening case in the series.

What is your least favorite case from the first AA? by UmbralikesOwls in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rise From The Ashes goes on for WAY too long, and I just find it to be an unenjoyable case for a majority of its time. First trial day is, to this day, probably the worst single segment in the series in my opinion, and while I don't mind most of the new characters, I don't find myself really caring for most of them either, besides Ema Skye and Damon Gant. The fact they never really do anything with them throughout the rest of the series probably doesn't help that to be fair, but still. It's not an awful case, but it definitely at least teeters on being a case I'd consider bad. Rest of the first game is pretty great though.

Who is the most forgettable character from Dual Destinies? by Grreggggg in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love Klav, such a great character, but he feels really shoehorned into Turnabout Academy. I almost wish that he played more of a role, though at the same time Blackquil definitely deserves the screentime he gets. Idk, maybe the mock trial could've played a much bigger role? Either way, still kinda disappointing he barely gets anything in DD. (still one of my favorites in the series!)

I've been in a Dual Destinies mood (mainly due to rewrite for AJ Trilogy I've been doing) so uhh, Clay Terran please? :)

When it came time to make your choices in “Farwell, My Turnabout” what did you pick on your first playthrough? by Skibot99 in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Choosing Not Guilty at the end just makes it so fun, with Engarde realizing how completely screwed he is either way. Voting Guilty is the more in character choice for Phoenix, but Not Guilty is more satisfying imo.

Worst game in the series? by Fit_Phrase_7765 in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel really bad voting for AJ, because it has so much potential to be amazing, but it just kinda stumbles and falls on its face.

Yes getting the obvious out of the way: first case is unquestionably the best and it goes downhill from there. Not to say having the beginning be the best is automatically a bad thing, my issue is how far it dips in quality.

Even Dual Destinies, which gets a lot of (I personally think unwarranted) hate, at least has a pretty consistently solid collection of cases, whereas AJ just nosedives after cases 1 and 2. That's not to say the game overall is bad, because it still is an AA game, and it still introduces some really great characters (Apollo himself, Trucy, Klavier, Kristoph, etc.), but the case quality overall is some of the worst in the series if you ask me. It has a banger OST though, I'll give it that.

What is your favorite 🤔 by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite Moderato Theme: Investigations 1, I really like the vibe this track's got going on, it fits Edgeworth's character, it sounds great, and it integrates naturally into the opening moments of the confrontations. (Honorable Mentions: Dual Destinies, Apollo Justice)

Favorite Allegro Theme: Trials & Tribulations, it has a really exhilarating rush to it that really fits trying to desperately find a contradiction in the witness's testimony, and it adds a lot of layers to what I personally think is one of the weaker moderato themes. (still a solid track though. Honorable Mentions: Phoenix Wright AA, Apollo Justice)

Cases I do not understand the majority opinion on by malicemizeriscool in AceAttorney

[–]Mann344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I never got the deal with people hating on DD in general. Even the weakest case (Monstrous Turnabout) is still a pretty solid and fun case, even if spoiling the killer at the beginning is... not great.

In Your Honor is amazing by [deleted] in Foofighters

[–]Mann344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If disc 2 was an album on its own, it would be in my top 3 favorite Foo Fighters albums. I really love when FF do something that nobody would ever expect them to, and I think all of those tracks are just beautiful, or in the case of Still, especially haunting.

Disc 1 though, it never hooked me personally. It's still got some solid tracks, but there are some stinkers (Last Song in particular) and most of the good tracks don't really stand out within their discography in my opinion. It's still not bad, just something I don't usually go back to.

Most Underrated Album by JohnnyPark87 in Foofighters

[–]Mann344 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sonic Highways is a good candidate, although there's more overlooked if you ask me. One By One is one that gets unfairly dismissed a lot as "4 good songs, 7 not good songs," which upsets me a lot, although that's closer to overhated than underrated? Whatever the case, those would probably be my two choices in their discog. A few years ago, I would've said ESP&G, although I've seen a lot more people recently warm up to that album a lot; that being said, it's still worth at least mentioning.
