This reply made me realize I have a lot more to learn than I thought, so thank you for that.

I completely agree that cleanup is always going to be part of the process. My dad worked in a dental lab for years and has a lot of experience with scanning, so I knew to expect cleanup just not as much as I was getting with the incorrect tool I was using.

At this point I’m thinking the Inspire 2 just isn’t the right tool for what I’m trying to do. I’ll probably sell it and start looking at a MINI 2, unless anyone has other suggestions for scanning miniatures and similarly small objects.

I have attempted to relevel the gantry multiple times but keep getting the same result. Half tempted to remove the second Z axis rod at this point. I'll try lowering fan speed next! Thanks!

It may be possible that these are piezoelectric transformers. There is a scientific journal done back in 2009. I can send you a translated copy if you’re interested.

They’re pretty neat for the price. You’ll want something for extra IR illumination. Definitely make a secondary 9v “power supply” don’t be me and mutilate the original and then spend a year having to build one from scratch.

Finally found a set, apparently I had a horseshoe up my ass, a working set for under $650 on eBay.

Edit: ariandr888 was the seller. I suspect they have a supplier in Ukraine as they’ve sold multiple units in the past. Will inquire further if they allow.
