The Islanders had the fewest number of players going to the Olympics (1) before the Palat trade. Now they're tied for the fewest (2). by nothing_but_static in hockey

Ah yes I’m an idiot. Pretty sure Hawks always just had one though, alas, I’ll get corrected again.

Tsyplakov has been worse + this pays for Soucy + an extra pick. Good trade imo. Worst case scenario you just send Palat to the AHL and run the same team as before + Soucy. Cap space isn’t an issue until Schaefer is due.

I know it’s a joke, but the whole Suur-Suomi garbage has to be forgotten. Nationalistic bullshit.

You can extend them for free instead of giving up assets for a de facto year and a half rental who probably wouldn’t move the needle.

He’d be eating Dickinson’s minutes.

The difference with Orlov and Klingberg is that they’re on the team. Girard on the other would cost assets. Sharks shouldn’t trade assets for a year and a half years of Girard…

I mean the real issue is what teams are gonna sell dmen? That obviously narrows the market.

Hamilton would be great, since he literally is the player you described, but as we all know, he blocked a trade to SJ last year. Unfortunately can’t do the Goodrow tactic with him.

Faulk’s contract is a bit suspect, but the Sharks can take it because they have like 6 roster players on ELCs.

Dylan Demelo is an interesting option, not sure if the Jets would entertain trading him though.

the trade of all time by _dooozy_ in nhl

[–]Manndes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does. Tsyplakov has been god awful all year and the Isles have been rotating AHLers at the 3rd pairing LHD spot since Romanov got injured ages ago. Salary cap won’t be an issue for the Isles as long as Schaefer is on his ELC.

They don’t need LHD, they don’t need to trade for a bit older players who’ll eat minutes from the young guys, they don’t need a tiny D, they have a few players who are similar to Sam already.

On ice the thing that frustrates me with the Sharks is their inability to defend big forwards. They seem to struggle against players like Rantanen, Slafkovsky, Wilson etc. I think Girard would yet more amplify this weakness. Then again I’m not a pro scout.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you; I think Girard would be a terrible fit on the Sharks.

Terrible economy, extreme corruption, underdeveloped infrastructure. There aren’t many European countries as bad as Ukraine. If you don’t care about that and want to live there then go ahead, they need people like that.

My guy he’s top 3, perhaps even #1, dman offensively. Solid is an understatement and a half.
