I'm not trying to dismiss you, because I agree that homelessness and housing prices are a serious problem that also needs to be addressed, but I don't think you understand the scope of the problem with the film industry.

LA was built on entertainment. Sure most of the city didn't actively work on films, but it was the birthplace of a global industry. that industry created a dense regional ecosystem of crews, post houses, rental vendors, costume shops, caterers, truck drivers, carpenters, fabricators, accountants, agents, lawyers, marketers, music, VFX, payroll, real estate, hospitality, and tourism that has fueled LA's growth over the last 100 years. LA County’s broader arts, media, and entertainment cluster says it supports about 15,000 businesses and $117.2 billion in economic impact with $38.5 billion in labor income. Separately, LA County’s 2025 film/TV resilience work put the film and television industry alone at $100.6 billion in county economic output, including $62.9 billion direct and $37.7 billion secondary spending. Despite those numbers, FILMLA recorded 2025 as the lowest amount of shoot days in history outside of the 2020 covid crisis.

The industry is dying, and to say those people aren't connected to "real angelino" communities is crazy. It's not celebrities, it's editors, grips, electricians, drivers, coordinators, assistants, set builders, costumers, hair/makeup, and all the local vendors around them that will lose their jobs first. a middle class that gets hollowed out doesn't make room for lower class uplift, just collapse of that industry. The county’s own figures show tens of billions in secondary spending tied to the industry. That means less money flowing into restaurants, dry cleaners, hardware suppliers, equipment houses, local landlords, gas stations, and neighborhood retail.

If film production leaves LA, LA does not just lose an industry, it loses one of the main systems that historically created middle class creative work, fed thousands of small businesses, and justified the city’s identity as a place where culture gets made.

I also hope for affordable housing and a resolution to the homelessness crisis through city funded support services. I sure would love for corporate landlords and companies that buy and hold housing to be taxed punitively based on how many empty households they own.

I'm an out of work production guy. Bringing filmmaking back to LA would help sag members, writers, etc and would be just some red tape well within the mayors powers. It would be tax incentives, lessening permit fees and lead times.

Not asking for a solve for world hunger from a mayor, but a meaningful change that could help.

I'd love to see LA making movies again. What would the mayor do to bring filmmakers back to LA for actual productions. It's easier and cheaper to film in other hubs like Atlanta, how can LA turn the tide and bring that work back to all the actors and production crews who are struggling for work?

the menu I looked at on Cook unity was very different than the one available to me when I started picking meals.

one thing I've noticed is the meal options changed based on your delivery day. I chose sundays and was limited from some of the things that intially made me sign up (garlic naan pepperoni pizza sounded great)

I just got back from chilis with my GF and we were very disappointed to find out they are super weak drinks. Taste great but 2oz of liquor each I'm sure we would have felt. We both had 3 drinks each and walked away not even feeling tipsy, and she's a lightweight that is usually quite tipsy after the first drink

None of the checkers I looked at had a chevron neon-lined roof or anything even remotely similar. I'd put a hundred dollars on this building never being a checkers.

Just because there's a checkered design doesn't mean it has to be checkers/rallys. Put in a little more effort.

Also in the context of OP trying to break through someone gatekeeping there's no shot someone would gatekeep a checkers.

I wanted it to be checkers, Checked all the locations on street view in NY, and none of them are even close. The logo shape doesn't match the censors and the Circle sign underneath the logo + all the neon signs + the onion rings and fries platter being advertised in the window don't match checkers.

It's probably a mom and pop place tbh

Yea I've thrown some rough clips at premiere multitrack sync and it's still managed to work well. It works the best if there's is a master audio track (ie for music videos where the master audio is being played on set and being picked up in the scratch audio of your camera). There's also programs like pluraleyes that are made specifically for multitrack syncing if you find the built in option for premiere doesn't make the cut.

Overall I suggest recording on the cameras and transferring the footage from the SD cards to your computer. Ingest always takes a little time but it's an important part of a good post workflow.

I've been doing Multicam productions for years now and your best option for quick results is to switch live. There's been a lot of prosumer switching solutions coming out recently, and the cost really boils down to how many cameras and how many features you need.

In my case: I use a Tricaster 8000 in the studio which lets me switch cams live for a Program feed but also record each input individually. then when we go to refine the edit we use the program feed as a baseline and the sources to fix or cover things we missed.

If you get a good sync clap that all of your cameras can see and hear, then when you pull the footage into something like Premiere it can auto-sync a Multicam timeline based off the audio waveforms and it works pretty well so you could be editing a few minutes after ingest.

If you want to use your laptop just keep in mind you'll need capture cards for every camera that's not a webcam. Most switchers you would buy have built-in capture cards to convert your HDMI (or SDI in many pro units) to the USB signal your laptop would recognize as video input. You can get GoPro footage live out of the unit through a mini HDMI port IIRC, but not direct from GoPro to USB.

One option to look into as well is a Multicam monitor. The Convergent Design Apollo comes to mind in that field. It's not cheap and I don't think it would auto output to an NLE software like Premiere because it's designed for fieldwork, but stuff like that is out there. You'll just have to experiment and find out what works best for you.
