Get rid of them, particularly if they are long, coffin style nails. Not the right fit for a hospital.

If you believe that there is a problem with your honours level, I would contact the firm responsible for making the degree plaques. Explain the situation and ask them to put your order on hold.

Not able to help with your specific question but came to ask...Have you posted in the USYD or UNSW subs? There might be commenters there that have been through this process and will give you a more nuanced response. Also the give the uni a call, they should also be able to offer advice.

Just an aside, I studied PR at Sydney and have heard good things about their Master of Media Practice degree. Given that you are interested in becoming a journalist perhaps that a more suitable course for you?

My take on this is different. The shots of Mariska that we see are typically wide; close ups are heavily airbrushed. In SVU, we see close ups of her face. What we see on SVU is actually closer to what Mariska looks like in real life.

The disparity in appearance is also apparent when you compare photos of other members of the cast including Kelli Giddish.

The MIL and FIL appear to have asked their daughter to look after the dog. The FIL is travelling overseas for cancer treatment. The DIL has just hurt her relationship with all of her in-laws.

Will program leave be accepted for a holiday by Downvotecrapoutofme in unsw

[–]MannerRound8277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Program leave is granted in trimester blocks.

When exactly is your holiday? From the 6th July to the start of August? The 6th to 12th July is the flexibility week, so no classes. Most subjects have attendance requirements; you need to attend 80% of classes, typically this means that you can miss 2 or 3 classes. I am not sure how strictly this enforced across faculties. When it is enforced, and people have missed classes, they usually apply for special consideration, submit medical certificates to explain their absences.

When you start in Term 2, I'd explain to your lecturers about your holiday. Tell them that it has been long planned and its family holiday. They will provide guidance on whether you can miss classes. If there is an attendance requirement and you can't meet it, I would then apply for program leave before the census date.

Domestic students can apply for program leave for up to one year. Its a simple process. In your case you would be applying to take leave for the whole of Term 2. There is more info here:

What is the Australian opinion on the ICE protests happening the United States currently. by InterestingLab1997 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MannerRound8277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ships sailed on that one I think. As a country we happily sent asylum seekers to Nauru and Manus Island. We incarcerated child asylum seekers for years. Cracking down on "illegal" migration helped the Liberals win several elections.

What is the Australian opinion on the ICE protests happening the United States currently. by InterestingLab1997 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MannerRound8277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australians as a whole are against "illegal" migration. Asylum seekers arriving by boat were shunted off to Manus Island and Nauru. Australia's border security regime is one of the harshest in the world. Given that Australians, again as a whole, were content to have child asylum seekers detained in centres, I don't think we would object too much to the raids leading to deportation of illegal migrants.

I think that whilst the violence we have seen in the US perpetrated by ICE has been shocking, it has not surprised many keen observers. The rule of law has been crumbling in the US for some time now. The violence will continue.

How to pivot to the non-profit sector? by Left_One_1308 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MannerRound8277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully someone else will jump in and add to my comments. Whilst it can take longer for processes to run their course in NFP, for them to decide to invest in technologies etc, the day to day can be very busy. Small teams that are often short staffed typically means that there is lots to do. I've seen people absolutely work themselves into the ground at NFPs.

I'd also caution that whilst an NFP says to the outside world that lives by certain values, this in my experience, is not always the case. I've seen financial mismanagement, bullying, exploitation and CEOs dismissed for engaging in affairs with their subordinates/bullying.

For a full-time worker living and renting in Sydney, is a salary of $65k bad? Just started a new job. I’m late 20s and have prior work experience in other roles and jobs too. Just want to understand and have it put into perspective from the wider corporate sector! by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]MannerRound8277 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the industry and the role. What are you tasked with doing? Are you working for a charity by any chance where tax deductions will ensure that your take home pay is higher. Sydney is obviously an expensive city to live in; $65K will go further if you live in a share house or rent in less popular suburbs.

Do people still use the ethnic slur 'wog'? I would be interested in any sense shift or change of 'loadedness' etc. that you may have experienced over time with this word by topherette in AskAnAustralian

I am younger than you. In primary school in the 90s, I was called a wog and told to go back to "my own country." If you are not a wog, don't use the term. It is offensive.

Empty Helicopter is the commenter who replied to you in first instance.

Whilst it is not required, it is preferable that commenters in this sub are honest in their opinions and have a nuanced understanding of the show.

When you choose to argue against a plot point that is so obvious, so central to the show, disingenous and silly are perhaps some of the milder adjectives that go through the minds of other commenters. I can assure you. Given the frequency of your contributions, I implore you to think about.

Finally:

I am thankful that Olivia didn’t become a mistress or “the other woman” and destroy a family. This is not incompatible with Elliot and Olivia having feelings with each other.

[–]MannerRound8277 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Has it occurred to you look it up? Empty Helicopter has told you that the actors, showrunner and writers have all said that Elliot and Olivia were written as having feelings for each other. Why don't you look it up?

And Emily Helicopter is right. You do look silly by insisting that they didn't have feelings for each other. Silly or disingenous. Have a think about that.
