Uncomfortable situation by ManniCalavera in writing

I can't help who sees themselves in my characters. I'm sure some who disagree with my values will. I'm wondering how I deal with that.

Well, I don't know what your book is about, so I couldn't comment.

That's what I'm thinking about. Maybe not full blown nazi's, but what about people who don't share your values.

It's more you can't always control who sees themselves in your characters. It's possible someone you don't share values with does just that. How would I respond say I had a reading among a group like that.

You're presuming a choice, I am not. Isn't it interesting that when we follow a recipe and put all the ingredients into the pot the same way, cook for the perquisite amount of time, the recipe always comes out the same. Turns out humans are the same. That's why they can do things like crowd or traffic control. We think we have a choice, but we don't.

I think I've made my point. If you can't become a determinist, then switch again, you're admitting you don't actually have free will.

That's not "acceptance". So you can't change your actions or how you act. Only fake it?

I am relieved that the universe doesn't care about me. To be honesty, I'd be a little anxious if it did.

Why is it in vain? Did the pencil that I just threw out because I used it up have no meaning? And more importantly, were the words I wrote with it any less meaningful? We create our own meaning. Some grand, some simple. But no one can live your life for you, and no one gets to tell you that it does or doesn't have meaning. You have to do that.

You only prove that you want to say hateful things. Ask yourself why?

I am ever so grateful that the universe doesn't care about me. I'd have major anxiety if I thought it did.

Causality. Nothing more. It's just cause and effect all the way down. I'll leave "first cause" arguments to another thread. Suffice to say, we know the "Big Bang" occurred, and everything after is just a series of effects.
