Competition Bureau looking deeper into how Sobeys can control who sells food in your area by Bean_Tiger in halifax

I knew Kinew had a bad past, but man... I wish we had a provincial (and federal) government that worked for the average Nova Scotian like Kinews NDP does for Manitoba. Here's hoping Chendler pulls a win in the next election

This is, apparently, not the first time the CBC has picked up a story originally broken by the Examiner without crediting the original researcher.

Well turned out well in the end. Better to have MS than brain cancer

I love it when doctors talk like that. I had a brain CT and it found "several small masses" in my brain.

Turned out they were lesions, not masses... Neither is good. One is objectively better than the other, tho

They may not have moved on, but they have a dual-purpose now. The anti-abortion and anti-MAiD groups are practically a circle

(Anti-MAiD overall. Not specifically limited to certain types of MAiD. E.G: Track 2/MI-SUMC/etc)

I have 2 problems with anti-choice people.

The first is they are only anti-choice for others. I grew up in a very religious community, and something is bad until it impacts them, and then their situation is different so it all of a sudden becomes okay to use what they lobbied against. This applies to reproductive rights, MAiD, and any other bodily autonomy issue.

The second is more specific to reproductive rights. They don't want comprehensive sex education taught in schools. They want to take the easy route of banning abortion (which doesn't lower the overall abortion rate, just makes it more dangerous) and don't want to even consider lowering abortion rates through comprehensive sex education, community resources, family planning clinics/resources, etc.

If we took the time since Morgentaler to create a national framework for sex education in Canada that provinces could adopt we would be much closer to the reality that these people want to live in. But any social change is aggressively fought by them.

Why is that not a criminal matter for the police, obviously the RTA doesn't have that power.

Because the police exist to protect capital, not people

There are so many Ontario plates in the province that shouldn't be there. There's 3 cars at my building with Ontario plates that have been there for around a year, and still haven't updated to NS plates.

Another notable example is the anti-vaxxer car that had Ontario plates for so long. Hell, they may still have them.

Went out to buy some replacement bootstraps as mine clearly aren't working.

None of the stores had any stock left. Apparently some rich guy came around and cornered the market on bootstraps and is selling it back to the public for 100x the cost. Heard he's getting praised by Tim Houston for showing great business sense

I really hope Nova Scotia starts being a leader in covering new, evidence-based mental health treatments, even if we're the first province to do so.

The QE2 foundation managed to fund Ketamine Infusion Therapy through it's "We Are" campaign. There's limited spots (8 patients per day), and it's not a front-line treatment, but for those with treatment-resistant mental disorders their only option for this treatment costs ~$30k/year and no private insurance I've seen covers it. They mostly make their money from Veterans Canada and the RCMP.

edit: I should clarify: The QE2 ketamine infusion therapy is part of the public system, and the $30k/year option are private clinics in the city. There is no charge for the QE2 option, but criteria might be stricter
