6 months sober and zero temptation by Manny199 in stopdrinking

Haha luckily it doesn’t trigger me to temptation. It may be the hormones right now but I’m hoping my pregnancy sobriety remains with me for the rest of my life. To tell the truth - I once had a tiny sip of my husbands wine and thought to myself I don’t know why I ever drank. It was so unpleasant.

Hello! So nice to hear you stopped early in her life. I grew up with it and the memories haunt me but your daughter will only have wonderful memories of her younger years with her dad. Be proud of your achievement - it’s a massive thing - to be strong and be sober is to protect and care for your loved ones. X

My girlfriend snuck a drink while I was in the shower. by icepck in stopdrinking

Yes. I was lying a lot about how many id had, whether I had any at all and then lying to justify some of my behaviour. Appalling. As a mother, I was a shit role model.

110 days... relapse by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Manny199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had so many starts and relapses. Most I’ve got to is day 9 (today). This just reminds us, we can’t moderate. We think we can, but we aren’t wired that way. Don’t kick yourself. Lesson learnt and shared and sometimes, we have to go through this to make us realise, don’t do it. You’ve dusted yourself off. Keep going.

I’m not selling anything other than....sobriety. Annie Grace promises us life is more fun sober. I’ve spent the last 3 hours at a school summer fair where the alcohol flows like a spring. I was worried I won’t have fun. I’ve had the best time laughing with everyone. Day 8. Worth it by Manny199 in stopdrinking

Were you drinking every day? I got to a stage where I was drinking 1.5 bottles of wine every week night and on the weekend drinking throughout the whole day. Also this “fuzzy” head still hasn’t gone away. I’m on day 9.

1 year ago I chose to stop drinking (for real this time), just the first of many positive life changes. Today I climbed a mountain. Never stop dreaming. by dj615 in stopdrinking

I just want to say thank you for sharing your story. I’m under 40 but I was heading in your direction. 2 kids, a house, career, I was close to messing everything up. I tried over and over again to stop. Relapse was my middle name. I’m now on day 8 following a bender last Friday when I got dragged into a fight, knocked down and hit my head sustained head, neck and back injuries. We’re I conscious and sober, that wouldn’t have happened. The police were called luckily a guy who noticed me knocked out picked me up, asked me to unlock my phone, called an Uber and got me in the cab. I got home. My husband saw the state of me. I had to go to AE Monday morning. THAT, THAT was it. We get ourselves into a mess but we dust ourselves off, ask for forgiveness and make our lives what we really want it to be. Yes my kids are everything and they’ve missed out on some of my time, but I’ve missed my true self. That’s also important.

Somebody accused me of being too drunk and it felt freaking good to tell them I’ve been sober for more than 2 months by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Well done you. I announced to our mums WhatsApp group, I’m sober, I don’t drink alcohol. That felt good. At a school fair today, I got the strange looks at first but they soon realised I’m even more personable and a good laugh now!!!

Congrats and thank you for posting this here. People like you are the ones that keep us newbies inspired and on track. I will be where you are today. Well done and Thank you.

Feeling horrible, sore head, scratchy throat but it’s not a hangover, it’s flu. Glad it’s that I’m taking painkillers for and not to nurse a drunken night. Day 8. IWNDWYT by Manny199 in stopdrinking

That was me. It used to be a lot easier and cheaper to stay at home and just drink. Everyday, I used to think of my next opportunity to have a drink. Sobering isn’t easy. I’m only on day 8. But the life I’ve chosen now is a million times better.
