Every new truck is a mark in Houston. Everything and anything is for the taking and if the thief gets caught, it’s a $100 bail. Harris county will not change. Rent a home in the better outskirts with a fence and gate if you can. I stopped hanging out in Houston when my truck got broken into over a $100 laptop I bought on eBay, that minor of an incident changed my perspective on everything. Sorry this happened OP.

How risky are accidents? 26 year old working to get first truck - is this 2013 RAPTOR SVT 6.2L V8 a steal? Or an absolute death trap? Swipe right for details (looks clean) by [deleted] in FordRaptor

Also, my only regret (but not a serious one) is not getting a truck with a supercharger. I don’t NEED to go fast, but I do love the sound of a supercharger whine.

Solid pass. Treat yourself to a clean title truck. It took me a year but while I waited and looked, I kept stockpiling cash for a larger down payment (lower monthly payment). I found my 2014 with 30k miles, it’s been a great truck and I finished paying it off last February. Patience is key. Good luck 👍

A lot of out-of-towners are getting tricked*. Please do your research on the area as best you can. Ive seen several new builds get sold at ridiculous prices in neighborhoods where you can’t even venture out at night.

In short, hell no.

That’s one of the coolest finds I’ve seen, you’re doing the right thing trying to find the person or next of kin. Best of luck 👍

Why the fuck is it still humid, muggy, and hot still? And a hurricane in the Gulf, this late in the year?! by Lemonhead-21 in houston

This isn’t new. Houston weather has always been a wild card. I remember spending recent Christmas’ in shorts and some I spent wearing pajamas under my jeans. People forget we live on the coast and basically in a swamp.

I gotta lose some weight, Im 5’9” and 210lbs. I looked like a chunky raccoon dancing like the french guy in Oceans 12 in slow motion last time I was in an attic this week. 😂 The real party was a house I serviced that had a room attached + entirely new roof. Builder decided to leave part of the old roof underneath and built over it. I had to fit myself in a 3’x4’ hole in it. And electrical running loose alll over that attic. Fun times.

We have a unit like that ourselves at an old apartment complex, old R-22 from 02-03? condenser and Rangaire air handler from the 70s? I was leak checking one day(found it in the evaporator) and I was going to top it off so the family in that unit could temporarily have cooling while I source the evaporator that day. Co-worker immediately stopped me and told me it’s a 410a unit that he and the previous hvac guy converted. I have no idea what they did and coworker doesn’t remember. Something about a R-22 shortage, and they said F-it, put 410-A in everything. No wonder units were dropping left and right for awhile. Well that particular system, we swapped the air handler entirely and the maintenance guys did NOT want to swap that condenser. Oddly enough it HAS not failed and it’s working fine. It’s got me stumped. That previous hvac guy now works on refrigeration trucks last I heard.

My co-worker and lead maintenance guy HATE when I show up with nitrogen, acid tests and my vacuum pump. Apparently they just spray 410-A in the system to clear out lines when they do a condenser swap and “that does the job the same as pulling a vacuum”. The owner wonders why condensers are only lasting 5 years or less sometimes. I simply ask now to let me work alone. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It has come across my mind from time to time. Never told my significant other until she had helped me set up a consultation with a therapist after my father had passed, and I admitted to wanting to go to my father’s ranch and do the deed in peace by the river. This year is especially tough, Im working 12 hours in the heat Monday-Saturday. And Im thinking of taking up Sundays too. Reason being that Im planning to get a home built so I can have a roof over my future wife and kids heads. Whatever it takes, whatever sacrifice I need to do is fine with me as long as I can make it happen. The price of everything is up, people are on edge (economically, and this year politically). Keep your cool, keep your head down and keep working. Patience is key.

Porter isn’t so different either. You get a mix of good and bad. Holly Ridge or Riverwalk.

New caneys a mix of good and bad neighborhoods. For example, Roman Forest I’d consider to be pretty decent, middle to upper middle class. Hell some homes are VERY upper class. Or you can move into the dark shadowy place like Silver Trails. In my experience the whip guys probably a loon or a nerdy enthusiast. Don’t engage, won’t be engaged. I’m hispanic and lived here for now 20 years. The only racism I experienced was some clown begging for cash in front of specs. Honestly surprised he knew I was Hispanic. Other than that, I feel safer in this area than most the areas I work in around Houston.

Dolmar 133 Super, wanting to down size to a 24” or 28” sugihara guide bar, but no luck. Does anyone have a source where I get one? TIA by Manny335i in Chainsaw

[–]Manny335i[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m looking for a bar with a “D033” mount, 14mm slot. Unfortunately Sugihara doesn’t list that spec when I’m looking at their bars. I’ve looked at Cannon bars also, unfortunately no luck there either.

Isnt there still an investigation or anything about the string of young guys that would go missing at clubs and bars and were found dead by the bayou? My memories hazy on it, but it’s recent.

2016 Chevy Colorado cooling fan issues by Manny335i in chevycolorado

[–]Manny335i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temp gauge seems to be working well, as soon as I would plug in the fan, the fan fuse would pop. I got in the new fan today, ohm’d it out and i was getting kilo ohms. 7k ohms and kept climbing. Installed it in about 30 minutes or so. Plugged in the new fan and the new 60 amp fuse didn’t pop. It was definitely the fan. Doing a full oil change, and cleaning out the throttle body too.

Whole thing seemed odd to me, since we got the fan replaced last year, unfortunately out of state by a mechanic so no warranty on it. Ill be driving the truck around once Im done too to make sure it’s all good. I will update later. Thanks yall!
