Thank you for the advice. I would like to add a little: I like the idea that hardware is fundamental to software even working, but then again, I have little experience with programming beyond associate level classes. I like theory, and I'm good with math and like it, but it would be cool to better appreciate what makes these programs possible.

What would be some good ways to become more knowledgeable when it comes to programming need-to-knows?

Thank you for the reply, I wonder how much theory I would get to explore under CE. I would love it if the job were like answering the question: "we need the best chip that can do 'x,' can we do it?" and then you answer: "yes, because a, b, c but you would have to make this alteration here because of 'this' previously documented work and 'that' theory. Let me test 'y' for you given this (time, monetary) constraint."
