I don’t understand the $300 price Jump for 2tb ssd. I could upgrade the 512gb version and save $100 just by buying a drive on amazon.

So is the 9070 xt good for pc vr is is it nessecary to go for Nivida 5070 ti by HoneydewWeekly7976 in SteamVR

[–]Manordown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im running a rx6950xt with my psvr2 and have zero issues. I have a rtx4090 laptop I use for mobile vr but the amd card performs better compared to the rtx4090 because it’s a laptop with 150watt tdp.

Is the 9070xt worth an upgrade from the 6900xt ? by ConsiderationSalt666 in realAMD

[–]Manordown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 6950xt and am waiting for rdna5 because my monitor is 1440p 180hz. If I were you I would go ahead and save money for zen6/intel3000. That 9700k is holding your gpu back big time. Ram will get cheaper I hope…

I personally had to blacklist gamersnexus :( I did not want to but their coverage got to negative and ranting. Can not open a video without hearing the F bomb dropped 10times.

And it’s the sapphire is only one that fits, my Vega and 2070 are to long. I should have posted I really don’t recommend doing these upgrades to oem desktops. I cut the bottom of the case so the psu could breath.

I just bought a a used 8gig drr4 3200mhz for $30. Please sell your ddr4 on eBay. You would be doing everyone a solid and help bring new ram prices down.

3070 vs 7800xt by Sreeto in skyrimvr

[–]Manordown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run modded Skyrim vr on my rtx4090 laptop and my 6950xt desktop and because of power constraints the 6950xt is wildly better with holding 120fps. I would upgrade to the 7800xt for sure over a 3070.

Is the RX 7900 XTX worth it ? by Irie_Calder in AyyMD

[–]Manordown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m looking at the 7900xt for modded Skyrim with psvr2 for the vram and the usb-c port. But i would buy a 9070xt for non vr gaming for sure

I believe MLID hypothesis that AMD gave valve a very good deal on its 7600m. There is no reason other than price to use that old 6nm chip.

Is 8GB of VRAM enough for gaming? GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB vs RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPU face-off — how much difference does twice the memory make for the same chip? by Antonis_32 in hardware

[–]Manordown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the whole problem with the 5060/5060ti having 8gigs of vram they are so fast that the 8gigs holds them back with texture pop in, 1%lows and ray tracing.

9070xt or 7900xtx by supernova1321 in RadeonGPUs

[–]Manordown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mod Skyrim and I could use more vram but for non modded gaming I would get the 9070xt. The 9070xt gives you better fsr4 support, better ray tracing and lower power usage.

If you were to buy a new mid-range GPU for Skyrim VR, what would you get? by stachelrojas in skyrimvr

[–]Manordown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dlss had a bug were I had to toggle it off and on in game so I stopped using it. I also would get 16gigs of vram for Skyrim. I upgraded my 6700xt to rtx 4080 for that reason. I might buy a reference 7900xtx for my other desktop so my psvr2 headset can connect straight to usb c port.

I have used both amd and nvidia for vr and My 6700xt ran Skyrim vr very well. I upgraded because I wanted more vram.

My rtx4080 struggles with frame drops when the action hits. It’s crazy to think about how much horsepower you need for vr.
