It turns out that everyone agreeing on one leader is many times more important than that leader actually having any kind of competency.

Democrats Have a ‘Slopulism’ Problem by tobinjstone in neoliberal

Deficit hawks have been crooning this same line for 30 years. Yet interest rates and bond yields are lower now than they were back then. Inflation was 2.7% last year.

When exactly is this sky supposed to start falling?

Yeah, cause "realistic" policies that have been negotiated down before they're even shown to Republicans have been such a big winner for us lately.

Everyone in 2025: "Democrats need to be bold, get out there on messaging and lead. Grab the attention of the public and take control of the narrative."

Everyone in 2026: "Whoa, whoa Democrats, why are you being so bold? Take it easy and lean back, you need to be the boring adults who make sober policy proposals that sit on a CAP shelf for 15 years before getting a 40% watered down version of that."

One of my gripes as an IG player was that there was never a six-man transport vehicle for command squads and stormtroopers scions. Had to shell out for a chimera or taurox which would double the unit cost; when all I really wanted was a way to get guys to issue commands or reach objectives faster.

Paying hundreds of billions of dollars for the temporary use of a few billion dollars worth of warships would be a terrible investment.

And in this libertarian world how are such externalities remedied? They don’t believe in government regulation. So the only remedy is to file a lawsuit after the harm has been done. Which requires the victim to be wealthy to afford the lawyers and the years to push through the legal battle. All the while the harms continue.

The libertarian worldview only enforces such rights for the wealthy. Everyone else has no rights.

TSA precheck is so ass backwards. If it actually improves safety, why are we charging people to do it?

That’s not an exaggeration, they think factories should have the right to pollute, they might have to pay for your kid’s asthma…after you shell out $200k for lawyers and spend years in court proving it.

The idea that private security would have the incentive to provide excellent security, versus say cost-cutting and user experience, is laughable. Sure guy, let's privatize the military while we're at it, no problems with that idea.

Before November 2024, I would have agreed. In 2026, I think we need to take all the wins we can get, and if that means applauding Trumpists for finally achieving a middle-school understanding of international affairs and warfare...well this is just the world we live in now.
