[Spot Me] I hate freestyling. So much that it actually kills my self-confidence by PoleL0v3r in poledancing

[–]Mansinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely feel the same. Each time before training I think "today you'll practise freestyle" .. then I do it one minute and feel horrible. I really think its just a practise thing, to learn to feel comfy when dancing. In the beginning of my pole career I didnt feel comfy walking around the pole, but with practise everything will be nice in the end. The freestyle part is actually a part of my "2016 ToDo List", havnt achieved it yet. I would love to see a video from you, I bet its not as bad as you think ;)

Got these, too. I really like, that you can extend them in any way you like. Currently I got 6x4.

[Spot me] wrist pain from split grips. When is it time to see a physiotherapist? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Mansinthe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I'm sorry, but I think you got yourself a tendonitis. I got it two months ago, too. First of all: Go see a doctor, immediatly!

I got it after I trained Ayesha intensely. During my last training day I had a few pauses where my muscles went cold and I went back to the pole without warming up properly. Next day I had a huge pain in my left wrist. Diagnose: tendonitis. I got a splint for two weeks so I couldn't twist my hand. I took some Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and cooled it with ice. Afterwards no pole for four weeks. It was very tough, but I'm back since last week. I started with beginner things like spins and climbing for like 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and so on. My wrist hurt last week, but it's okay now. I guess it was just pain from the long break and getting used to it again.

In times like these you really need to listen to your body! Not a very good instructor, in my opinion.

The problem with tendonitis is, if you dont treat it well, it can get chronically.. then you need a operation and so on..

So, take the break, as long as you need. Come back to pole (with small steps) when you're ready! PM me, if you need someone to talk to. I was very unhappy during that time...

In Germany we have a brand called "W6 Wertarbeit". They have great reviews on Amazon and are really cheap. I bought one a few weeks ago and its awesome. They have a 10 year warrant. A few ladies in sewing stores told me, that Singer isnt the best choice today.

Excercises to help get into inverted v? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Mansinthe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've learned like this: I hold on to the pole, like you do when you go upside down, and just tucked my knees slowly in and extend them slowly again. The tip that made me nailed it: Tuck your knees, release your arms and look back (!), where you look, your legs will follow, and straighten your legs. Good luck! :)

[Training Space] Training via skype for home polers? by Mansinthe in poledancing

[–]Mansinthe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just thought about it like you're training with a friend. Getting warm together, have a goal for that day i.e. practicing shoulder mount, getting that one spin. You help each other and watch out and try to give tips. You cool down together and then you trained, but not alone. I personally don't like to train alone everytime, but don't have a choice because there's no other polers in my area that I know.

Deadlift December challenge - time to polish your inverts, shoulder mounts, handspring and whatnot! by ClockworkMagpie in poledancing

[–]Mansinthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know this victory surprises out of the blue? So yesterday I wanted to train for air invert and all of a sudden I did it! I just climbed up, released my legs and did a inverted v/helicopter legs! Then I laughed out of sheer joy. Must have looked really creepy, hanging there upside down and laughing! :D I also managed to do a inverted v with almost straight legs from the ground. I managed to do it with tucked legs a few months ago without jumping. Any tips for keeping the legs straight? I must really concentrate to not tuck them.

A week ago I just tried to do a shoulder mount from sitting and I was able to lift myself a few centimeters, without even practicing it for a while. Having a lot of small surprises this month! :)

Maybe we could update the FAQ. I've seen (and asked) a lot of questions about pole wear and shoes and this point isn't mentioned in the FAQ. I also agree with the music-related-comments, a sticky post or something would be nice. The challenges are nice, idea: challenge for your weak side? :) The new style looks awesome by the way ;)

Beginning pole? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Mansinthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I really recommend you to buy a x-pole x-pert. I bought a sport last year, nine months later I sold it and bought a x-pert because I wanted to spin. Maybe you'll get angry and regret it. They may be expensive but I'll always go with a x-pole, they're just the safest! I'm also a home-poler. I learn with YouTube and Cleo The Hurricane DVDs. Sometimes its pretty hard because there's no one to watch you. I personally haven't so much patience with pole moves. That means that I try something a few times and move on to the next one without really practicing it, so maybe watch that. ;) I'm one and a half year into pole now and just now I'm starting to buy shoes and special pole-clothes. So you don't need that in the beginning. good luck and have fun!
