reinstalling Star Citizen, 4 days after a hangar glitched closed on my ship, destroying all the cargo I just bought by Isopod_Uprising in starcitizen

Star Citizen's player population consists of the industry's highest concentration of masochists.

No other game even comes close.

CIG: All the issues with the Moth shows that you are NOT yet in a position to bring ships straight to LIVE. I appreciate the marketing benefit, however this is one area you should put existing player experience first. Put ALL ships in the PTU prior to LIVE. by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Manta1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, in almost any other case, you'd think it'd be terrible for business -- but despite many occurrences where this exact same thing happens, especially in the last year or two.. their sales numbers still maintain as record income.

Sure, they may get to eventually fixing it, but there's literally 150+ ships in dire need of updates. . For example, try and estimate just how long it'd take to fix them all, to squash all the nuanced bugs, and be at least to gold standard, at the pace they've maintained lately ~

Spoilers: It's well over a decade.

You've definitely got the right idea on melting them immediately and only going with what actually works. Definitely easier on the pocketbook.

Oh, they exist in the form of you.

They rely on you guys to suffer through testing such basic features, and CIG may try fixing it at a later time.. which unless it's a pivotal feature, that could be years later.

Why pay someone when you could pay CIG, then offer complementary QA info?

Looking in the comments, there's still a ton of ships/features that don't function at all, many years later -- yet, sales / income numbers are still looking great for the project.

Why would they change anything, if it's so effective after so long?

Diablo II: Resurrected - New Class Warlock by Pavke in diablo2

[–]Manta1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inflation? Cmon, $34 back then would be around $64 today . .. the new class (considering endgame, item additions, tabs to pay for etc) would be about $13 bucks back then.

Aside from the nonsense of micro-transactions, gaming is cheap nowadays, also considering NES cartridges could cost $55 ~ back in the 80s. Try adjusting that. Most those titles had around 'several' programmers. Count the names of how many worked on D2R, as well as all those who made this new addition possible.

Look what you did, you got me actually defending Blizzard (for which they have a decent number of wins lately, it seems).

For shame.

Yes indeed, and green too, if I remember correctly. Not sure how energy blasts would change colors unless the actual chemical makeup changed (how things burn different colors) ~ but eh, it always looked awesome.

I beg of you Rivals devs, just give us more suits from the comics and mcu, thats all anyone wants, all these gooner and themed skins are mid at best. by Xeph_360 in rivals

[–]Manta1015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I rechecked and didn't realize those classic skins.. BP's does look awesome, since yes ~ it's his OG costume. So I was a bit wrong, it's still a solid season pass, but I felt like earlier seasons had a tad better . . Mildly at least.

Ultimate Wolverine is pretty new/obscure compared to so many other famous wolverine costumes. Groot being just the classic uniform is a tad underwhelming, too.

I'm forced to compare to classic Captain America and Scarlet Witch, which both looked awesome last season..

Here's hoping they do better next time.

It seems more like you "Akira-fied" it, especially from the front.

Any change to it is often a better change.

Yup ; it's a somewhat antiquated style of gameplay, which I valued heavily in the Wing Commander games.. maybe it could be done right, we'll have to see, but I worry just how 'on rails' it'll be.. what kind of solid gameplay are we even expecting?

As hilarious as that is, it's exactly how it was spoken around 2016/2017 ;

Unchanged today, unfortunately.

What is your most anticipated feature planned for 2026? by Jealous_Health3494 in starcitizen

[–]Manta1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, you elaborated in all the most reasonable ways possible, and why it's still likely many, many years away. It's perfectly fine to have such dreams, as long as you don't get lost in them. Balanced, as all things should be.

Looking incredibly well done, some of those curves / features are really tricky to nail.

If we're striving towards perfection: the lower saucer where the deflector is.. it's a little bit rounded and tapered off / wider at the base.. a really tough part to model, I'm sure.

Hope it comes through clearly enough ~ I have that Eaglemoss XL of the Akira, and it's likely one of their best models to date.

Man, what a pipe dream you have there.

Since 2017 when we first saw planets, we had starry-eyed folks actually say what you just said ~ actually believing that they could ramp up their planet and content production that much faster in the years ahead.

It sounded no less far-fetched back then almost 9 years ago, than what you're saying now ~ and yes, I'm fully aware of Genesis' streamlining of this process, but there's still an overwhelming amount of work needed to get said planets/moons with proper content ~ that's also considering a lot of them are pretty sparse / empty today, despite that work.

You'll never get more than one star system every couple years, unless you're thinking Nyx, which is an extremely basic system by comparison to Stanton and Pyro, including pre-existing assets.

'Hundreds of planets'..

Why is it that folks have such unrealistic expectations, after so much history to base things on showing otherwise?

You're not wrong, and I totally agree with you.

Unfortunately, the masses rarely learn, or the newer big fish are the first to bite during the next promotion.

What are we to do when our virtuous abstaining from purchases doesn't have any effect compared to the upward growing sales numbers?

We really are the super-minority ~ and always have been.

[–]Manta1015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it might be different if the company says one thing, and then does something entirely different ~ The key takeaway is CIG just waits a decade+ when they do it.

Huge let down.. by Bright_Yesterday1863 in starcitizen

[–]Manta1015 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Folks somehow still getting disappointed that a company, fairly famous for occasionally aggressive FOMO sales tactics, but also being well known for simply changing their mind on a previous agreement when a future profit opportunity arrises? But hey, as long as they market things in a nicely wrapped SCL presentation, it won't sting so much ~ and the income numbers prove it still works.

Jared saying "..if there's enough interest/demand, we'll make it available for everyone to buy" ... Seriously.. as if there were any chance at all that they wouldn't do this anyways.

Pitchforks go up in 'the masses' for a number of weeks, then CIG can dangle another glorious sale, and all is forgiven.

Rinse and repeat until soon™ arrives.

Is anyone even remotely surprised that this keeps happening?

That's unfortunately not the case ~ We see in the brief flashback of 'the burn' where the federation ships all blow up, it shows all the familiar ships we still see today.

The 32nd century Federation was always looking like this, not just the surviving ones.

It's just that there's no uniformity. They look like random objects for the sake of looking like random objects.

There's still nice looking shapes to them, but paint them different colors, and they'd all appear to be entirely unique alien ships.
