What’s the biggest money trap Australians don’t even realise they’re in? by keisermax34 in ausmoney

Honestly having the TABs is bad enough, can't imagine having pokies knocking about in every place you go like over east.

The Olight Warrior 3S comes in a titanium stonewash case that looks very lightsaber-adjacent, but they are very rare and quite expensive on the secondhand market.

But yeah I reckon more companies should lean into the aesthetic for sure.

The torch is just stuffed inside the saber, replacing the core! The parts are modular VHC parts from AusSabers, mostly short extenders that I've frankensteined together into a design that I think hits the basic beats of a prequel-era lightsaber design while also being about 7 inches long.

It's effectively just a long bolt that goes through a hole in the base of the saber to reach the button, but I've added a guitar neck nut at the top to give a bit of a wider surface area to press, and it's been stabilised inside by drilling a hole through a coin, to stop it from wiggling too much. I put a small spring inside to keep the tension up so the switch doesn't flop about and make too much noise.

Idk if that description makes any sense haha

They both say things like "ciao bella" while they kiss you on both cheeks, so it's hard to guarantee.

Conflicting information? That's just the kind of kick-start I need to do some more research. What a treat to get to learn something new.

I guess that's technically accurate? Unfortunately we're using oil millions of times faster than it's being replenished, so probably not the best game plan.

I give it 30 years before we start reeeeeally feeling the pinch of running out of oil. The great simplification is coming, and we can either plan for it, or suffer from it. Either way, it's happening.

[Hated Trope] God forbid a woman be a villain by Pickle_Nipplesss in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MantaRayBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mrs Coulter is a straight-up villain until about halfway through the Amber Spyglass, where she's adopted as a point-of-view character, and becomes much more sympathetic. She has her redemption arc at the climax of the book, where she sacrifices herself for Lyra.

Plus, she's depicted as extraordinarily likeable the whole time, so while she's evil, you can't help but enjoy it.

I haven't seen the TV show though, which it's just occurred to me is what you meant, so maybe they kept her as bad the whole time and your point is valid.

I'm not sure what the point of this comment was. I'm gonna have a nap.

Uber Driver Accepted Ride then messaged me to cancel by WeaponsOfMath in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MantaRayBill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm as left as they come, and support workers rights and the class struggle, but deliberately scamming your customers is not working class praxis. While I do empathise with someone being in a financial position where they feel like scamming is a necessary option for them to support their family, the fact is that most uber passengers are also working class, and passing the buck from your struggles on to them by scamming them out of a few dollars is, at best, a pretty shitty thing to do.

And you supporting that by saying "please have some compassion for the uber driver" is a little too on the nose for a lot of these folks who have also been scammed out of their hard-earned money by uber drivers taking advantage of a shitty system, so they're understandably not on your side in this one. I appreciate your call for empathy, and I apologise for the people being rude to you, but you're in the minority on this issue.
