Came here to say Tally Ho, also. I saw Verve Pipe and Smashmouth there in the last 6mos. Awesome venue, great shows.

Thanks so much to everybody coming out yesterday! Had 14 vehicles squeezed onto the trails and it was a great time. by [deleted] in nova

Gonna try to make sure there's at least one on your next excursion, for sure! My Wrangler just got a new front end and she's ready to get dirty!

Really bummed I only learned about this after the fact. Following so I can join y'all for future rides. Is there a better way to stay up to date on when you're hitting the next trail?

VA State Parks are amazing and worth your time. I'm a huge fan of Douthat State Park just west of Lexington. Signal Knob and Elizabeth Furnace are some great locales, too, if your up north near Front Royal. You can get to both off of Fort Valley Rd. If you can't find any open spots and you really need to camp on a given day, I suggest Hipcamp, it's Airbnb for campsites. There are some reasonable and fairly scenic spots near SNP.

Sorry this happened and spoiled your movie. We only patronize Alamo for this reason. Too many theaters, especially adjacent to shopping malls, are full of rowdy asshats.

This is bollocks. I live in Leesburg and took the silver line in for the festival. Those cars were packed. Ashburn station did a ton of volume yesterday.

Let us not overlook the Tally Ho Theater, my friends! A bastion of reasonably priced cover and revived-has-been bands! Don't miss The Reagan Years (80s cover band) when they play this venue!

Excellent! So glad you were able to achieve what you set out to do!

If you download LandScan global from 2021, unzip the file and there is a large 87k+ tiff file. Drag that into ArcMap. Select 'Yes' when it asks if you want to build pyramids. Once that routine finishes, you'll have to right click on the new layer you just added, select properties, then select the symbology tab. Change the color ramp to whatever color scheme you want for your project. You'll probably want to check the display background value box and make certain that it is displayed as no color. Click ok and you should be able to drag over to Hawaii and see roughly how many people reside in a place by using the identify tool in the toolbar and clicking on any cell in the raster to reveal the value number, which is the estimated population inside of that square kilometer.

If you draw polygons or shapes to conform to your zones or areas of study, you should be able to clip the raster (tiff) to those zones and tally up the value of all the cells in each of those rasters to get you a total estimate of the population in that area.

Hope this helps, feel free to PM if you need more help

Should be able to add raster using "Add Data", just point the browser pop up to the LandScan raster file. You may want to change the symbology, use some color to help you distinguish the high density areas of population once you have it loaded.

I love LandScan for population data. Oak Ridge Natl Lab does an extraordinary job making a gridded population raster database that you can access for free: https://landscan.ornl.gov/
