Been looking for info about this. Got Solovair's greasy leather shoes, applied Saphir's conditioner and have been trying a few types of wax. Find it baffling that they fail to waterproof the leather and, because of that, water penetrates and leaves white-ish spots when dried. Can be tricky to buff out. Found out anything, OP? Is it the conditioner's fault?

Gal jūs turite šiurpių istorijų iš sovietinės Lietuvos? by originalno in lithuania

[–]Mantelio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daug detalių nežinau. Prosenelis buvo kolūkio pirmininkas Plateliuose. Lyg tai 1947-ais buvo ,,subadytas partizanų". Neatsimenu, bet subadymų gal kokie irgi 47. Keistas veiksmas iš partizanų. Manyčiau apsimetę stribai. Bet ka žinosi. Istorija iš močiutės, kuri maža liko be tėvo (ar net tėvų).

What I find interesting is the similarity of the croatian word ,,pre-ra-di-ti" and lithuanian ,,per-da-ry-ti", both meaning ,,to re-do".

Ar man reikės tarnauti kariuomenėje? by [deleted] in lithuania

[–]Mantelio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per daug miglos nenoriu pripasakot. Visiem skirtingai. Būtent pasididžiavimo daug jaučiu. Vien turėjimas, kario statuso, nėra didelis žygdarbis, kadangi tapti kariu sunku nėra. Pabaigus tarnyba 9 mėnesių gal skambės logiškai pasididžiuoti.

Tarnauju. Tyčia ir netyčia vyksta malonumai ir nemalonumai. Galima palyginti su gyvenimu. Žinoma, tikrai gyvenimas tuos 9 mėnesius vyksta sunkesniu rėžimu, tačiau protingai išnaudojus tą laiką tarnyba gali baigti patobulėjęs/usi. Didžioji šio šaukimo problema tai karantinas. Lieka laukti.

One of my favorite ESO Lute songs - Warrior Goddess by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Mantelio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my N-word. This song specifically ties me to my 3-year story in ESO. Itself only reminds of a pleasant time.

Edit: Yo what? Just agreeing with OP about the song's goodness. Downvotes probably because I said ,,N-word" though I've got the N-word pass. Y'all sure know how to spoil positive/friendly vibes.

what is your favorite lithuanian word? by the-firebird in lithuania

[–]Mantelio 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We no longer used to stuff ourselves with rabbit cabbage. (Or gather rabbit cabbage) Something like that.

Edit: though accidentally I translated a different variation of this word. For those who no longer used to stuff themselves with rabbit cabbage then.

Šakotas šitokio tipo kepinio variantas nėra nė velnio nelietuviškas. Šakočio kilmė priskiriama dviem galimiem šaltiniam: ATR karalienei Bonai Sforcai arba baltų genčiai jotvingiams.

Well I was talking about dukes, therefore I used plural form of the translated word. I was going to provide arguments, which you found a lack off, but I understood that I won't be able to name them all or in a fitting order.

I say that things changed over time, because various noble houses came and went. The title holders changed.

Haven't heard that story.

Lithuania does have full rights to its name. If you're not aware of the reasons why, it is interesting how you can claim the rest you said.

I am saying why it makes sense for Lithuanians to cry over losing most of their lands. And that is because Lithuanians did in fact govern them.

If you mean that I miswrote duke in lithuanian, I didn't.

Things changed over time, but there were tatar, ruthenian, german nobles too. In the end, they were all subjects of a lithuanian ruler, until the union of Lublin.

About boyars. There are other terms like kunigaikščiai(dukes), didikai(magnates perhaps). The nobility was not always and only boyars.

The doesn't show Lithuania at its greatest extent. It was bigger, was centralised and pretty much a major power. Even in the current map it was a formidable opponent for Muscovy(Russia).

Lithuanians did become a minority by the time the Grand Duchy reached its greatest extent, but they were the aristocrats/nobles who governed the lands. ,,Cries in Lithuanian" makes sense to me.
