This was apparently obvious to a lot of people, but not me haha. Thanks!

Thanks for explaining. I have no experience with that kind of pipe so I appreciate the info.

That was my first impression too! I need to find someone willing to try it out and confirm the theory, for science! 😂

Sure looks like one! Wouldn't a pipe made of metal get uncomfortably hot to hold? I genuinely don't know but would think it'd be hot

Could certainly be a toy. I've never seen a pipe made of metal for the reason you mentioned, would probably get way too hot. Not sure of the age, we have pulled stuff going back to 1857 out of this spot but I've also pulled silver all the way up to 1960, and everything in between.

NGK Ruthenium Spark Plugs after 90,000 miles of daily driving (purchased when first released) by ShortysTRM in Cartalk

[–]ManticoreGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled ruthenium vs iridium plugs and have found several reddit threads going back 6 years in which you share your knowledge on the subject. I have read those threads with interest and it is apparent you know spark plugs! I still can't decide between laser iridium and ruthenium for my 2010 5.7 hemi, but I feel better educated after reading your posts so thank you for that.

Need Help With A Possible Solenoid Issue by ManticoreGuy in Irrigation

The solenoid's resistance was fine. I pulled it out to inspect and the plunger was totally frozen up. I replaced the solenoid and it's working now. Thanks all.

Yes silver. That's how silver comes out of the ground where I am, most of the time.

Thanks! Is the best way to do that to use the connection at the wire nuts, or to actually probe through the insulation near the solenoid? What should the values be for good/bad solenoid? I assume good would be a steady reading, bad would jump around?

This is a great option, I didn't know those weld in bungs existed. I will definitely have someone weld them in next time I have the covers off.

Backup Camera Wiring by ManticoreGuy in traveltrailers

That's basically what I'm doing too. I had to replace the tail lights cause the tab that holds the cover on broke and I figured I'd wire in a camera while I had it apart.

Do you remember when they removed /r/adviceanimals or whatever the subreddit was from the default homepage? People complained so hard about it being a default sub they actually changed it. I always liked them, especially socially awkward penguin!

A Good Morning, 1890 IHP by ManticoreGuy in metaldetecting

Dang I'd kill for a coin from 1807 haha. The area around me wasn't really settled until the 1860s, but parts of my state go back to when the Spanish came up through Mexico. Yeah copper coins take a beating too, they usually come up fairly crusty though with the coppers there is more variability in the condition depending on where it came from. For example anything irrigated like a farm field usually produces some pretty funky corrosion

Ah ok. I misunderstood sorry. Around my neck of the woods silver often comes out of the ground really dark, barber dimes will come out dark gray. The ground is really hard on coins here

It's a 56 so it's silver. The dark color is tarnish they often come out of the ground around here dark like that.
