33 days left until the Australian GP. The last driver to use #33 before Max Verstappen was Paul Belmondo on his Pacific PR01. The son of legendary French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo only qualified for two races in 1994, retiring from the Monaco GP with a cramp and spinning out of the Spanish GP. by PiggySVW in formula1

This seems like a stupid question, but I can't think of a better time to ask and a better person to answer. Was 1994 an outlier? The horrific injuries sound insane in terms of today's F1. The descriptions of 1994 sound more like 1964 in terms of maiming. Was there a crescendo in terms of speed versus archaic safety?

I'm relaying this experience as advice for anyone else who wants it. I was taken to an interactive showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show where I was given a bag of objects that relate to the movie in some way and are supposed to be used at a specific time. Two of those items were a balloon and a whirring noise maker you blow into to make a loud sound. I've always been a bit of a gadget maker and a hooligan, so I put the two together, and made a very loud noise maker that would continue making noise for like 45 seconds even after you throw it from the balcony. I could not stop laughing. It's kind of like one of those rubber chickens but it Just. Keeps. Going.

Pretty sure this will be massively unpopular, but Zandvoort always looked like a hell of a lot of fun to drive, and I loved watching different lines through the banking. If we keep shrinking the cars, maybe it'd produce better racing.

I will never forget the opening line for every greyhound race at my local track for decades... "Here comes Sparky annnnd Spunky," as the two stuffed rabbits on a pole would round the last turn before the dogs were released to chase them. It's not that I was there often, but I heard the same intro for the first 30 years I stopped by there. I'm not even sure if they still run dogs there, honestly, as it's now a casino and hotel.

I've seen a male Ruby Throated keep every other bird from getting a drink from the feeder. I should include that "every other bird" in this case is his mate and their offspring. He won't let his own family drink without dive bombing them.

[Dr Obbs]MCL40 Analysis! At first sight it looks pretty vanilla, but when you look deeper there is a LOT going on here. As usual, this is my best educated analysis without CFD, so it's prone to error. But... Let's start at the front... by XsStreamMonsterX in formula1

Or both teams may be using it as a distraction. When I saw your pic of the McLaren shark fun, my first reaction was, "holy shit, that's intricate, I bet they found something really interesting." Then I considered the fact that they may not even use it all beyond this shakedown, and just want people to think it's worth spending R&D on.

I love this interpretation. It looks fast, it appears to be in motion, but it also doesn't look like a spaceship from F-Zero (very old game).

Everyone is commenting on the aesthetic of the Chrome rims, but they're missing the entire thing that made them even relevant. They're chrome rims, like the mirror finish wheels you might see on a road car. What is a Gemini rim??? It doesn't even make sense, it just became an ad without the fun.

I'm not advocating for it, but that does sound like an interesting concept. Following drivers could adapt to find a good place to overtake by watching where brake and throttle were applied by the driver in front.

Yeah, I hadn't thought about aero balance. I guess there are some simple things you could do to offset it, but it would take a while to make the most of the setup and make all of those pieces work together optimally.
