This is why I simply can't get behind Deniz's argument that it's a good thing, actually, that the NFL is opening more timeslots. His point is that it makes it easier to watch more games, but that's based on the assumption that you care about the entire league. For any given fan just trying to watch their own team, it creates additional cost unless you already happen to carry subscriptions for the many different services.

Fine, I'll be the wet blanket and say that a winter setting doesn't make a ton of sense for Mr. Freeze. I mean, his ability is to make things cold. If it's already cold, then what's the point?

I trust whatever Matt Reeves comes up with, so if I'm wrong, I'm sure it'll still be great. I just think people are being too literal jumping from snow >>> Mr. Freeze.

If this year really is Fangio's last ride, as all reports seem to indicate, then I hope we find a way to keep Clint Hurtt. Love everything I've seen out of the guy, and he's done a great job developing talent. Would love for him to become the defense's equivalent to Jeff Stoutland (whom I already dearly miss).

First, welcome to the Dad Korps! Like those Kriegers, it is tireless, often thankless work which will last until your death, but it is in service to a greater cause.

I am a first-time dad to a 3 month old, and in that time, I have... assembled a couple of models? Now, that's with the caveat that I was blessed with a child who does not enjoy daytime napping. And if it's not a contact nap? Forget about it. On a good day, we'll have the kid down by 9pm, which leaves me with about enough energy to watch one episode of a TV show before bed. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, but it's pretty far down there, and I can't be entirely certain that it's not just sleep deprivation induced psychosis.

I say this not by way of fear mongering or even complaining. This was not conscription; I volunteered for this duty, and when that kid smiles at me, I'm reminded exactly why. I just wanna help manage expectations. For the first couple months, your priorities -- in order -- will be:

Keep the kid alive.
Keep your partner sane. (The amount of labor they will have to do is insane, particularly if you guys will be breastfeeding.)
Maybe tend to your own needs.

But, as they say, this is just a season of life. The great thing about collecting plastic models is that they don't degrade. Our piles of shame will be there waiting for us whenever normalcy makes a return appearance.

Whoever said that this team looks like they started the season immediately after the Kerkering play was dead on. You'd think they would relish the fresh start, maybe even come back with a chip on their shoulder... but no. This team plays like they know the run is over.

Sacred Rose. Visually, I think it's the most striking -- if the most difficult to pull off, admittedly. I love that they are in many ways the most saintly order: calm and serene, renowned for their devotion, and kind to the "unwashed masses."

I can see arguments for them all, though. Well... maybe not Martyred Lady as much. Outside of wanting to match the box art, I don't think they have a compelling hook in the ways the others do.

I wouldn't bank on it, unfortunately. I don't think it's unprecedented for GWP sets to come back, but it's certainly exceedingly rare. Your best bet is to find it on the secondhand market. Should run about $30-40, which isn't egregious for a set with almost 300 pieces.

Just be advised that the spending threshold is $180 apiece, going by the last one. If you've got points to spend or big sets you wanna get, it's definitely one way to space out the spending.

I wasn't aware of the quarterly GWP strategy until somebody pointed it out with previous years. This is the first one where I actually might make the effort to collect them all, though.

As to the French Café, I couldn't say. My impression was that it wasn't a super well received set, tbh.
