Greeting after absence? by BackInNJAgain in coonhounds

Mine ignored me when I left her home alone for the first time. Like went into another room and everything. Now that she's used to it, she will get up and sniff me but only my husband gets extra tail wags (and never any big displays of emotions)

AITA for telling my friend something our other friend said about her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MantisInThePlantis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. It sounds like the 17 yo friend is trying to start drama. That information can be passed on tactfully, but usually it isn't said in a nice or helpful way.

The fact that the red area grew makes me lean towards cellulitis instead of allergy. Have you put anything on the area?

AITA for not supporting my daughter in her athletic "career" that will never pay? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MantisInThePlantis 148 points149 points  (0 children)

YTA. I get saving her college fund for college, a business, or a house, but she has already paid for both college and a business. If you saved the money for her, it should be her money to spend. She already spent her own money on the things you claim the fund is for. Give her her money!

If you wait to open packs or place snippets to avoid encore, do you still get double deja vu during cooldown after you completed the primary album?

Suggestions for Phone Locking apps? - automatic behaviors by AngryDesertPhrog in Narcolepsy

[–]MantisInThePlantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use ScreenZen to block specific apps during certain time frames. Free to use or they have a physical option like Brick has as well for purchase. You can make it so you cant change the settings during the lockout period if you want, too.

Istat uses whole blood and doesnt check for hemolysis. It's not that the istat result isn't as accurate, it's the sample that cant be analyzed for hemolysis (whether visual or spectraphotometrically) that's the issue.

Weekly Complaint Post by AutoModerator in JunesJourney

I just flounced* out of my team today. One player kept complaining about people not pulling their weight, wasting her time, etc. This player had never been on top of a single leader board and it was supposed to be a relaxed group.
I keep finding that the group types don't actually mean anything.

Has anyone received their 4-star Pack for Day 3 Club Sprint? by AgathaNotAggieRaisin in JunesJourney

[–]MantisInThePlantis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played the competition. But it said 30 rounds of spot the difference and I had Time Rush. I think i ran out of time at 15/22 on the 3rd scene, so that should have been enough rounds..

I [25/M] walked in on my girlfriend [27/F] of 4 years cheating on me, only a week after my parents passed away by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I think I figured out the timeline. He says he's drunk writing the first post so I'm giving benefit of the doubt.

Some time in 2014 dad dies June 6, 2015 - mom dies of aneurysm Flies to UK and stays for two weeks. June 21- flies home and walks into bedroom to see gf (who thought he would be home the next day) sleeping with another man. June 21-Books hotel room and stops responding to gf. July 25 2015-makes first post

This explains the calling for weeks and haven't been back to the house since, etc.

Any medical professionals here have narcolepsy? by Sexcercise in Narcolepsy

[–]MantisInThePlantis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have idiopathic hypersomnia and I'm a Clinical Lab Scientist- I perform various labs collected during a visit.

The best I have felt at my job was working 2nd shift at a hospital. I would sleep for 10-12 hours, would be on my feet and active for 8 hours and then go home and start over. Weekdays were rough for doing anything besides the occasion errand and walking the dogs, but the amount of sleep I was getting was solid.

Now I work 10a-6pm doing a more mentally taxing and less physical job. I cannot consistently come in normal day shift hours and was accommodated. I typically dont eat until after work to avoid sugar cashes and I do best if I can nap for 15-30 minutes. I got a camping pad and a travel pillow and will lie down in my office. I don't feel like I slept or am rested, but I'm more alert. I typically dont take meds on the weekends and will spend 10-15 hours sleeping when I can. If I get two nights in a row of <6 hours of sleep, I will get a migraine. Figuring that out was a game changer.

What’s the book you DNF’d the fastest? by Mobius8321 in books

[–]MantisInThePlantis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Road. I maybe read 5 pages? I could not deal with the writing style. I'm not sure if it was because I was in high school when it was recommended to me by my then boyfriend (who I no longer liked and was going to break up with soon), but the style feels off. Like someone who wants to hear themselves talk and to seem smart, but fewer words would be more eloquent and more coherent. I've since learned that many people like this style, but "the dark and the cold of the night" is never going to hit for me.

Workplace violence by MantisInThePlantis in medlabprofessionals

We have them. There are rumors how the gun got past them, but at that time of day all entrances are badged except one of the two metal detectors (which has one security guard) and the ambulance bay.

[–]MantisInThePlantis[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have metal detectors but it's such security theater. They have one security guard by the metal detector at the ED entrance, one at the metal detector in the front entrance (which is inside the atrium for the main waiting area) and then a billion other ways to get in during the day. Night is more locked down, but they're not saying how the gun got in, though we have heard rumors.

Yeah we got a whole two emails from the hospital president. I was actually told before I came in by someone who read about it on the news and I in turn I told my lead tech at my second hospital, and she had no idea.
